Lovely atmosphere, plenty of shade. Friendly service. Had steamed mussels which were large and tasty, the open bacon sandwich was much larger than expected and full of flavour. The pavlova could have done with a bit more fruit. Would certainly return. The menu is attached - very good value too.

Located in the delightful Golden Bay, operating in its 25th year & famous for its atmosphere, music & brews. Tried the ginger bear & the apple cider - both strongly flavoured brews & refreshing.
Impressed with the seafood chowder - tomatoe based with hunks of garlic bread. Cooked to perfection steak with mushroom sauce, hearty mustard alongside, potatoe salad & a pile of fresh salad fill of colour. Shared 2 cabinet cakes with yoghurt to finish - carrot & choc - both hearty honest home baking.
Well done - retained your successful model & ambience. Composting toilets add to the quirkiness, large tractor tire swing, wekas scrounging. Iconic kiwi venue - don’t miss it.

I love the tasting platter you can pick 5 of their hand crafted beers or coders from the tap. The nachos are also awesome tons of sour cream. I would recommend a large to share between 2 people unless you are super hungry. I always come here with my friends when we are up in golden bay.

We’ve visited the Mussell Inn many times over the years and it would be one of my favourite places on planet Earth. Lunch and a couple of beers with friends on a very hot day. The Captain Cooker is well worth a try as are all of the on premise brewed drinks. Plenty of room outside and in the shade. We were able to take our dogs in just so long as they were on leads (which is a reasonable request). A highlight of our trip to the top of the south.

Apparently this place has been around for ages in Golden Bay and it is easy to se why. It is indeed a decent place. Not fancy but friendly and good. We had of course the mussels which were good. Not spectacular but good. And then we tried something different - the nachos. A good sized portion and ok. Not more. But the beers we sampled were all good!
