We had a nice holiday in Montenegro, and have plenty of nice things to say about the hotel. For example the food was very good, the wait staff in the restaurant were very friendly and polite and the rooms were comfortable (if in a slight need of refurbishment). However, there are a few minor things that really spoilt our stay here:

i) The hotel insist on piping naff music for all around the pool to hear, which added nothing to the atmosphere and indeed was a distraction if for example you wanted to try and read a book. We recommend that you walk through the pool area to the area beside the bay (on the pebble beach) if you want to try and escape the music

ii) We were told off for having our own bottled water by the poolside rather than water bought from the hotel. We appreciate why such a rule exists for food and other drinks, but don't feel it was fair that the rule extended to water. We noted that she didn't then also tell off the man who had brought a dog beside the pool for most of the day, despite there being signs saying no pets were allowed

iii) The receptionist we usually dealt with was largely useless. For example, she could tell us that the bus to Kotor ran once an hour, but for some reason she really couldn't make it clear to us the time it would come past the hotel. She also completely failed to tell us of any rainy-day activities we could do on the day we expected the weather to be bad.

iv) Relating to (iii), this same receptionist processed our final bill on check-out in our local currency, using their bank's terrible exchange rate. She did this without telling us she would do so or without giving us the option to pay in Euros instead. Her decision effectively added 16 Euros to our bill. We have since taken this up with the management who insist that they did nothing wrong and followed their standard process, but we don't feel we were taken in the slightest bit seriously during this exchange.

First it was only a short car ride from the airport to the hotel provided by the hotel itself to save on hassle, room was nice with a great view of the sea which looks like a lake with mountains almost 360 degrees, had a small balcony which was a plus as only two rooms i could see had them. Sea water pool was nice and warm when we arrived although quite chilly after it had been drained, cleaned and refilled on the penultimate day. The food we paid for in the restaurant was really top quality and sitting on the terrace right next to the water adds to the delight, the free breakfast is buffet and adequate if not quite so inspiring. Kotor is a short 5 euro taxi ride away on a narrow road that isn't walking friendly and there is a shop just across the road and a couple of local cafe/bars nearby.

Room Tip: 2 rooms with a balcony, worth trying to get one of those

We came to the Hotel Splendido after a hurried search for a switch in accommodation following a disastrous stay elsewhere prompting a premature departure. What a difference we found at Hotel Splendido. From the welcome and helpful reception, to the quality of the rooms, facilities and food. The effectiveness and friendliness of the service is beyond criticism.

It's a totally relaxing place to stay, from the calm swimming pool and the opportunity to swim in and look out onto the picturesque lake with the mountains beyond.

Eating a meal in the evening whilst sitting at the waters edge was a delight to both the taste buds and whatever hormones are used in extinguishing stress.

The proximity to Kotor and the free parking within the hotel grounds added to an already great place making it a perfect getaway place

Loved our stay in Hotel Splendido. Location was perfect: sea, pool, mountains, tranquility. We loved being on the unspoilt side of Kotor Bay. Local restaurants were a short walk away. Would highly recommend. Staff were excellent, friendly and efficient.

The view is amazing! The kids loved the nearby beach.Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful especially the reception manager Melovan.
The location is convenient, it is only minutes from the ld town of Kotor.

Room Tip: sea view rooms are smaller than mountain view. the mountain view room had a sofa bed.
