My wife and I have just enjoyed our fifth stay in ca'Biennale and are already looking forward to our sixth which I hope will be later this year.
August in Venice can be oppressively hot and over full with tourists. But this apartment is the perfect place to stay.
I loved the apartment before but now it has got even better - Bea, the charming and delightful owner, has fitted air conditioning and has set up WiFi.
But the real advantage of the apartment is its location. It is in Castello and though it is only a couple of minutes away from the man Binnale park and ten minutes from St Mark's it's quiet and secluded. It's heaven to be able to get away from the crowds. And when you want a break from the usual tourist spots there are some delightful walks on the nearby leafy Isola di Sant' Elena which has a wonderful cafe where you can sit and watch the world go by - keep fit fanatics exercising, couples strolling, children playing, groups of older people sitting around chatting......perfect place to unwind before returning to the best cultural experiences in the world! And the shopping in Via Garibaldi just a short walk from the apartment is a fun experience even for a mere man!
Bea is the most helpful host and is always concerned that her guests have the most enjoyable time possible. She's a real gem - a mine of useful information and advice though she is never intrusive or overbearing.
You wan the real Venice? Then stay a ca'Biennale. The prices are very reasonable for a major Italian city and overall excellent value.

My wife and I spent a few days in Rome and then caught a train to Venice her we spent five nights in ca'bienale. This was our 4th stay in the apartment (our third this year) and we are already looking forward to our 5th. Venice in December was wet - St Mark's Square was flooded for part of our stay - and at times the rain seemed pretty relentless. But the weather would never spoil a visit to such a beautiful, romantic and magical city. The apartment was warm and welcoming and a great place to retire to at the end of a long, hard day. I recommend the apartment without reservation -comfort, convenience, and the best place possible to make your temporary home. Excellent value for money and the owner Beatrice could not be more welcoming or helpful.
We came to Venice to visit the Architecture Biennale, so the apartment was at the ideal location, next to the Giardini and 5mins away from Arsenal.
It is in a very quiet area, but still within walking distance from the center (it is Venice after all)
Very easy to reach from the airport, with a vaporetto stop just around the corner.
The apartment has a well equiped kitchen and stores nearby, so one doesn't have to go out eating every night.
Wi-fi was available for 6€ for 3 nights.
If we visit Venice again, we will no doubt go to Ca'Biennale again.
Overall, a very nice place to recommend.
Stayed in their brand new renovated apartment vanilla house for 3 nights in the Castillo district. Great location 10 min walk to fondamenta nova stop for airport alilaguna ferry and vaporetto to murano and burano, 10 min walk to San Marco square and Rialto bridge. Clean apartment with new bathroom and kitchen. Lots of mosquitoes so we bought a repellent plug in. Detergent and hand soap provided. No wifi yet but owners planning to install. Contact owners directly for cheaper price than booking sites. Met owner at ferry stop and was escorted and oriented to apartment and area. Supermarket <5min walk nearby.
Mention Venice to most people and they think only of St Mark's Square, the Rialto Bridge, the Grand Canal, and all those places so packed with tourists that you can hardly move. But there's so much more to the City than that!
This was our third stay in Ca'Biennale (the last was in January of this year) and we are already planning our next trip which should tell you what we think of the place!
Ca'Biennale is a comfortable and homely apartment with the biggest bed I've ever slept in! It is the perfect base from which tio set out to find that other Venice where real people live. A few steps from the front door and you can find groups of people chatting, families out for a walk together, women shopping, children playing, a delightful park to walk in, a small cafe (very reasonably priced) which is used by locals.
The tourist sights are important, of course, but the lives of the real people are more so and are even more interesting.
The outside of the apartment doesn't look much but inside it is comfortable, cosy, and an absolute delight. The kitchen is well appointed, the small sitting room area has a television (not really necessary but welcome nonetheless), the bedroom is large and inviting and the bathroom has a wonderful shower just right for the end of a hard day walking and exploring. The owner Beatrice is a delightfully charming woman who speaks excellent English and is always willing to help guests make the most of their stay.
This time we didn't bother with the major tourist attractions as we wanted to avoid the crowds - instead we explored the back streets, seldom visited Churches, some of the smaller museums, quiet squares, ordinary shops where the locals buy what they need, walks in a nearby park, and, of course, boat trips to some of the islands (only Murano is really touristy and it's possible to escape the crowds on the others).
I've lost count of the number of times my wife and I have visited Venice but it must be around 24 by now and there are always new things to discover and different places to go.
And in the evenings if you don't want riotous night life there are some beautiful walks along the edge of the Lagoon where you can enjoy some of the most stunning sunsets you'll see anywhere in the world.
I would recommend the apartment as the perfect base for the perfect holiday.
