Popped in here for a cup of tea on our way back to Blakeney. We love the walks out to bird hides. Thought we would have a cup of tea and a toasted tea cake as it was a bright but cold day. Unfortunately for us tea cakes are not available - for some reason - until 2.30 pm. We settled for scones which were huge. I had cheese which I had warmed as they looked alarmingly brick like however proved to be tasty. My husband struggled on manfully with his unwarned fruit (spartan amount) scone. We took the only table that was left - we soon found out why - opposite and with the constant traffic it was freezing. Something needs to be sorted out re this situation. However the staff are lovely and the shop very nice and the loos always spotless.

Visited here after a nice walk around Cley marshes. Met a very pleasant photographer called Josh in the observation room. He was displaying some lovely photos. Very helpful lady there as well.

Downside would be the toilets. Far too small for size of centre and poorly signed

After a long walk around Cley, the mill and surrounding area we stopped here for an afternoon break. Access by car and on foot is very easy. There is also a bus stop right outside on the road.
My brother ordered a cream tea with fruit scone and I had the honey and lavender cake. We were both thoroughly impressed with how helpful and friendly the staff were and enjoyed our treats too. We sat in the window overlooking the marshes. binoculars and a bird book were on hand on the table and the weather was holding so we spent a lovely time in the cafe.
We had a quick look in the gift shop too afterwards. The range is both interesting and varies in price.
The toilets were spotlessly clean.

We have visited this cafe three times for lunch during our week's stay. It has a very warm and friendly staff with a good range of food - soups, sandwiches, basic hot food and home made cakes. I can recommend the vegetarian chilli and the cheese scones (which are huge and served with butter, cream cheese and a delightful spicy pickle) and my husband was impressed by the cakes.
You can enjoy a stroll to one of the nearby hides to see a large selection of water birds and work up an appetite, or, as happened the first time we visited when the weather was so cold, we just sat inside along the huge window, looking out over the marshes while eating and supping, glad we weren't one of the feathered friends freezing on the marshes. Binoculars and bird identification books are provided. Plain buttery biscuits are provided free to go with your tea/coffee, asking for a donation towards the upkeep of this impressive building and reserve. Please give generously.
