After spending time in awe of the African art at Zeitz MOCAA, The Yard provided the perfect spot to grab a couple of late-afternoon appetizers and recharge before my long journey home. The space is beautiful. The food hit the spot. I snacked on salt and pepper calamari and chicken satay. Each came with their own tangy sauce which made the meal. Plus, the service was stellar.

Bonus: the attached market meant I could snag a couple of last-minute food items to take home as souvenirs.

Based on reviews about poor service had concerns about eating here. But had both a dinner and breakfast here and whilst the service is not 5 star it was still acceptable.
Food is fresh, full of flavour and well presented. Pricing is on higher tier but in line with any restaurant in prime positioning and gorgeous interior.

What a wonderful restaurant for a night out. Not only were we greeted friendly as we entered the door, but the nice vibe of the place immediately changed our mood. Excellent service which included complementary dishes - which the flavour and food combo alone will make me go back! Our entire table had Indian Cuisine related food think Tandoori Chicken, Mutton Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala. All which were really good. We averaged on R200 pp for a main meal & glass of wine.

We stumbled into The Yard, which is next to the Silo in the CT Waterfront. What a good surprise. It's is a sort of Indian tapas - plus, place. A good lunch choice in a fancy modern location where the chefs are Indian but the food has an international flair. We ordered a number of "tapas" portions, plus the fish curry and numerous (freshly baked Nan breads) for a table of 5. We all shared and everyone was impressed. By international standards not expensive for this quality of dining experience. I have marked it as fine dining (on account of the food) but it is casual though smart.

6pm friday. Date night. First time at The Yard.

We are at Waterfront almost every Friday so excited to try something different.  My wife has been dying for exquisite food and the pics on website looked promising.

Decor is modern and elegant.  Reminds me of London.  As does the whole silo area . Restaurant was almost empty...but it was early still

Ordered nachos and ranjeet platter for 2.
Nachos were good. Could have been spicier

The tandoori platter- for ZAR 295, was abysmal in portion size.  2 prawns. 2 pieces of fish. 2 pieces of chicken.  2 pieces seekh kebab

When it arrived i thought it looked a bit dull. Wasnt piping hot. We ate all but kept the chicken for last expecting it to melt in our mouths as we are used to from other fine establishments.

Needless to say... it wasnt. Just dry chicken.we only had a bite each.   I had a suspicion it was reheated.  All of it.

Complained to the manager and i asked him directly if it was cooked much earlier

He confirmed this. Cooked at 4pm!!!!

We were very disappointed.  A place like this Should NEVER serve reheated food.

He brought us more chicken freshly cooked... melted in our mouths

We skipped mains and went straight to dessert.

Chocolate fondant. To cut a long story short.  Miniscule portion

Summary. Kiddie portions. Giant Prices. Reheated food. This does not qualify as fine exquisite dining.

Hope they get it right in future. We should perhaps go there when they are busy..to get fresh food

But for now we will stick with bukhara/haiku/ Willoughby for good food. And Baia when we really wanna get fancy.

Ps. Cappuccino. Just strong.  Not tasty.  Does not beat Willoughby
