“Magical”
Reviewed 12 March 2017 for a stay in January 2017

We stayed at Habitation Touboul overnight on our way to Marie Gallante. We were a little nervous since we had never before stayed in someone's home versus a hotel. Francoise and Gerard greeted us at the airport with beautiful smiles and warm hearts. They accommodated our excessive luggage with a giggle and Francoise even insisted that she squeeze into the very back of their vehicle so that we could travel comfortably to their beautiful home. After arriving, getting situated and having a short rest, aperitifs were served on the veranda, Gerard's own recipe consisting of rum, ginger and citrus juice-- perfectly refreshing after a day of traveling. The entire home is bathed in Balinese style, accentuated with personal favorites of the owners. Ample tropical arrangements are scattered throughout with candles providing a warm inviting glow everywhere.

Dinner was next, expertly prepared by Francois using local fish, fruits, vegetables and bread made by Francois herself. To say she is a culinary genius is fair and she refers to her kitchen as her laboratory. Dinner was accompanied by delicious wines of your choice and topped off with a beautiful hand made frozen dessert. Every plate, bowl and tray was embellished with flowers from their extensive garden. We enjoyed conversation after dinner with both host/hostess and learned much about their beautiful family, their travels and their very special Land Cruiser.

We slept like exhausted children that night --sounds of crickets and wind rustling in the palm fronds. We had clean, beautiful rooms, with comfortable beds with netting. Air conditioning was available although we did not use it. Our rooms were spacious and water and glasses were set out for us. The shower and sink area was large and open air, and plenty of deliciously scented hand-made soaps were laid out. The water closet was separate, for privacy.

Breakfast was whatever time we wished and our food choices were several and decided by us the night before. Again, local fruits, fresh squeezed juices, fresh bread and eggs from the hosts' own chickens were presented to us, in the same beautiful fashion as dinner --Francoise again at work at her passion. After breakfast Gerard took us on a tour of his lovely gardens, created over many years--quite clearly a labor of love. Huge mango and papaya, various types of palms and so many tropical flowers. I am sure I am forgetting some. We could have spent many hours learning about the local flora as Gerard is expert in this.

Since the weather was good and we had time, Francois took us on a short jaunt into the jungle and to a river. Cold clear water with the largest bamboo stands we had ever seen. Afterward we spent some time at the local Kassaverie, learning about processing of the fruit and enjoying a bit of their freshly cooked treats. When we ran out of time, we headed back to Habitation Touboul, loaded up our embarrassingly excessive luggage and headed to the ferry.

We were so sad to leave our new friends at the end of the day and cannot wait to see them again next year. We recommend these folks highly, unless of course, you are planning to stay when we want to be there!

“Delicious Stay”
Reviewed 11 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

We stayed at Habitation Touboul one night before and one night after our trip to Marie Galante. Francois was incredibly helpful picking us up from the airport and taking us to the ferry. I fooled her with my French - using google translate to make the reservation, but Gerard is fluent in English.

Francois will give you the option of preparing you food for a fair price. Take this option! The meals were incredible. All made with fruits and vegetables from their extensive gardens. The fish and sauces were perfectly complimented. Francois makes her own bread.

The room is very restful and offers wifi. The toilet is outside of the bedroom but it is all very private and pleasant. This is a very pleasant place to stay.

“Very good B&B with a great host”
Reviewed 20 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Stayed at this B&B for 3 nights. The host, Françoise, is very sympathetic although she spoke no english. Luckily my partner speaks french so she could translate. The location is easy to find, the house itself is fantastic, very clean quiet and close to the airport with free wifi. Breakfast was very good and homemade chai latte was to remember. The host also offers guided tours, although they were out of the standard price range on the island. We had overall a very good stay and I would certainly recommend this cosy B&B.

“Amazing experience to discover Guadeloupe”
Reviewed 8 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Staying at Maison Touboul was a fantastic experience. The location itself was perfectly placed to go out on regular hikes into the rainforest. It was easily accessible by regular car and the guest house itself was a beautiful Caribbean home. The owner, Francoise was an excellent host and took care of us like family. Not only was she able to guide us through the island, she also cooked amazing meals with different local fresh fruits, local vegetables and fresh local fish. From fresh pineapple, mango & star fruit for breakfast to breadfruit curry for dinner to the ti' punch in the evening. She even prepared fresh water & fruit to take along on our hikes. A great experience for anyone looking to stay in Guadeloupe and discover the island in the best possible way. Merci Francoise! A bientot..
