The reception staff were very helpful on our arrival. The room was excellent - newly refurbished new carpet very comfortable bed and excellent tea & coffee making facilities. The bathroom was refurbished and very clean . We had dinner in the restaurant - carvery. We had an early start so we're not able to have breakfast. Although not mentioned on their website they do have wifi.

6 of us attended the famous ‘steak night’ a few weeks ago. A very traditional pub that appears to have lots of regulars. We were seated straight away and a drinks order taken from us at the table whilst we looked at the menu. With it being steak night, we all ordered steak! It came fairly quickly to say that the place was quite busy. Chips and salad are brought in large serving dishes and left on the table, which I think is nice as everyone could help themselves.
Steaks and all accompaniments were lovely. Waitress cleared our table but didn’t ask if we wanted anymore drinks (even though or glasses were empty) and didn’t offer us the option of dessert. We waited a while longer, just in case she was busy with something else, but she never returned. In the end, we had to go to the bar to order and pay for some more drinks, and ask about the option of desserts. I get the impression that as this pub is so popular with regulars that the staff expect everyone to know what to do in regard to their system and process! If it is not table service, that is fine, but I feel it should be mentioned at some point.
Desserts were eventually ordered (at the bar) which we enjoyed. All were very fresh and a large selection.
Food and value for money is great. I think the customer service side of things can be improved slightly. All in all a very enjoyable evening

Lovely hotel, very clean and great staff. We were staying over for 1 night family visit, leaving early the next morning. The staff provided us with an extra early breakfast, wide range of choice of starter (cereal, fruit, yoghurt, orange juice, milk) then a full English breakfast with tea and coffee. We had drinks on site on the night time, very nice beer.. warm and cosy bar. There is a caravan site and golf course on site. Carverys are amazing will be returning

Arrived to check in for a pre-booked one night stay just after 3p.m. on a Saturday in June. The place was closed (apparently it closes between 2p.m. and 6p.m.). There was nobody in the separate reception area. After having driven for over three hours to get there, we decided to find alternative accommodation nearby.
I spoke on the phone with a member of staff later in the day to explain what we were met with on arrival and to request a refund. The request was refused. It was our fault. We didn't ring the bell. I missed the bell due to being concentrated on locating a sign of life. Luckily, we discovered that there's a great Premier Inn just up the road which is open all day and has people on reception.
