We thought this place looked lovely on the outside. It’s quite nice inside with a lovely view of the sea. The food was ok, nothing amazing. I had the steak and asked for medium but it was well and truly over cooked. I should have sent it back (completely my fault) but decided to chew my way through it. The server Ellie was very helpful and very friendly which pushed their rating a bit higher. Won’t rush to return when visiting the area again.

This pub looks a lovely old quaint pub from the outside. Unfortunately the inside has been modernised to try to make it look quaint....it could be anywhere...the menu was standard easy to cook fayre which was cooked to an OK standard, the barman wasn't showing a great deal of interest......it could and should be so much better...

Visited The Ancient Mariner for luch today.Food was okay. Nothing special, but okay. Service at the bar extremely busy, but staff seemed to cope with it well. Didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive, but it seems theres a problem with food hanging around before its brought to the table as it's never hot. Would visit again provided I'd got a 50% off voucher. Major problem with serving assistants petting, stroking and cuddling dogs in the restaurant. Where is the food hygiene. Did they wash their hands after, probably not. They shouldn't be doing that in the first place.

Ate here a couple of evenings. The food was reasonably priced and of a good quality. Also a good range of local beers. Service on the second evening was a bit slow but to be fair they did apologise and say they had a few last minute walk-ins and a member of staff down. There is a specials menu which offers something different but otherwise usual "pub grub" offering.
I would imagine that this place is crammed during the summer months but there is a large outdoor eating area and I did think they worked hard to make everything a good as possible
