“Expensive”
Reviewed 29 June 2012

Club Balai Isabel offers good relaxation and scenery. The rooms that we stayed at was good ( we stayed at two rooms). Both rooms are clean, fair enough sheets, with comforters and soft pillows. Pools are ok but may require long walks to get there. I suggest not to swim in the lake, there's sea weeds everywhere. We tried the callus eating fishes and their foot massage, its a little bit pricey. Food? not good, menu is limited not to mention pricey, ( they only have one restaurant) its better to go buy food outside the resort. There is a small grill restaurant just 5 minutes away from the resort. Grilled squid and Sisig is recommended. Got a little bored too as there isnt that much activity in the resort. Will I comeback there? Maybe, if its for free again :D

P.S
Kudos to their staff, friendly and accomodating :)

The location is breathtaking for it is overlooking Taal volcano...but the villa where we stayed is quite expensive to compensate the service that the resort is offering. Though the rooms were clean but the toilet we used had stale odor.

I bought a voucher for Club Balai Isabel and used it just this weekend (June 9-10). It was just me, my hubby and my 1-yr old baby. We had a 2 1/2 hours of travel time. Since both Miami vs Celtics is on and at the same time there was a Pacquiao-Bradley bout after, there is no traffic in sight on this particular day that's why the shorter travel time.
Checking was fast. Since I already reserved the place via the travel agency that sold the voucher, as soon as we arrived they just got the info and I was just asked to fill out the form and off we go. Our hotel was just in front of the reception area (Mabini Suites) so we didn't have difficulty finding it the room. Parking is also a breeze on a first come, first served basis. We got one just outside their restaurant.
What you can do there: Swimming (they have 2 pools; one near our hotel, the other which is a huge one is at the other end of the property), didn't get to see their mini zoo, they have their own spa, basketball court, foosball tables, billiards.
The room is big enough to accommodate 4 persons. It is clean, tidy, nice although kinda showing signs of wear and tear.
I like the buffet breakfast (free with the voucher) better than the buffet dinner (P400 per person) but they're both good and satisfying.
The view is spectacular as we have the unhampered and unrestricted sight of Taal Lake/crater of Taal.
But the best thing about Club is the staff. They are so accommodating, approachable, fast to provide service and nice. There was a leak in our room and they had it fixed in no time. And even if they are fully booked on that day, they were still happy and helpful. They also let us checked out late (1PM)
We will definitely go back again.
What they can improve on:
Add some more activities for children so they won't get bored. I think they have other recreational facilities still under construction. (zip line etc)
Perhaps a convenience store for snacks and other stuff.
The toilet is ok but they can do more perhaps upgrade/renovate the older ones. Other than that, it's ok for us.
We had a great bonding time=)

Room Tip: Choose the one facing the Taal lake.

I have come here often with family and friends. It is an enjoyable place to stay at for a simple weekend out. It may not be sufficient for beach lovers, but for me the pools especially the big central one are clean and well maintained.

The area which is designed as a quaint village type, may become a little too crowded during holidays, but the rooms are secure enough for the group's privacy. Some amenities may need a little upgrading (ie. toilet, air conditioning) but the staff are willing and quick to provide service.

The dinner buffet at the clubhouse restaurant is yummy and filling, and affordable at around PhP400 per head. You can also cook and prepare food in some units.

The views are marvelous, perfect for aspiring and professional photographers.

Room Tip: There are different kinds of rooms but I recommend, especially for big groups, the rooms at the new...

Overpriced rooms for a resort with little to offer:

1. Room is sparsely furnished with a somewhat dated bathroom Has a kitchenette but no cooking ware. Only two bath towels and a hand towel, even though u reserved the room for 3. Additional towel costs P100 each. No other bath amenities outside of two shampoo condition and two pcs of soap. Comforter is thin and no slippers or robes provided. The telephone has a musty smell. The room is clean thankfully.

2. The resort doesn't have much activities to offer. Just two pools. No jacuzzi or slides for kids. Saw a few kayaks on the lake shore, which is black and uninviting. Banana boating is available but that would be the most exciting activity offered and it's not free.

3. Only one restaurant inside the resort. Taste is ok and price is decent for a hotel restaurant. Menu is limited though.

4. Walls of the rooms are so thin that you can hear every food step outside your door.

The only saving grace of this place is the lake taal view. If you want to stay in Batangas, either pay slightly more for a better hotel or pay less and stay at another 3 star hotel. This place is not worth it at all.
