We watched Brian and Amy on HGTV in their search for the perfect accomodation in Bocas Del Toro. We loved the property they purchased and felt we had to go there and we loved it. We picked the Sunrise Room, but be aware of no see ums in the early morning and dusk. Freshly prepared breakfast and dinner on the deck looking down on Dolphin bay, with star gazing. Brian shares his enthusiasm for the flora and fauna on his property, and yes you will see red frogs. Local snorkeling, visit to Chocolate plantation and walk in tropical rain forest to see the monkeys and perhaps a sloth. Amy and Brian are the perfect hosts.
Don't forget some school supplies for the local school and visit the children. We enjoyed watching them come and go from the local villages in their hand carved canoes. The Wilcox's will accept contributions to their fundraising efforts in providing solar power to this little school to provide fans for the teacher and children.

We absolutely love that you saw our episode on HGTV's Caribbean Life and declared "we need to go support those two!" That kindness and encouragement will always mean a lot to the entire Hideaway team. Thanks from all of us for this fabulous and detailed review. We have had many, many experienced and knowledgeable world travelers, but your extraordinary experiences and memories of people and places are the deepest and most colorful we've ever heard. Your travel choices - discovering not only interesting places but making friends and lasting relationships - are incredible and inspires us as well. Have fun on the many new places you're visiting and we are so pleased to be in your travel universe and do expect a return visit someday! Many safe and happy travels - Amy and Brian

Brian and Amy couldn't have been more helpful on our 2 night trip to Dolphin Bay Hideaway! The views were incredible, the hosts lovely and the food delicious!! Amy always made sure we had more than enough tasty food- catering for everyone with a lovely sit down meal in the evening. Try the tacos and pizza restaurants across the bay at lunch. We made great use of paddle boards and kayaks included in the room rate and saw so much with the recommendations of Brian and Amy. We saw dolphins daily, including when were out on the paddle boards and Brian knew we wanted to see a sloth and red frogs so he kept an eye out and found them for us! We'd love to go back again and hope to continue working with the local school. Any school supplies from travellers are so appreciated, please consider this on your trip! Best place we've ever stayed!!

We had the pleasure of spending two nights at this incredibly beautiful resort with our friends. All of us, had an amazing time--wonderful hospitality, breath-taking view, beautiful rooms, and delicious meals. The entire experience was lovely. We would recommend Dolphin Bay Hideway without reservation. Brian and company were there for us whenever we needed anything!

Thanks Mary for taking the time for this complimentary review. The title "Perfect Hideaway" is what we are attempting every day, so the whole team is pleased we delivered for all of you. It was especially enjoyable that you, as neighbors from the Pacific side, all chose to spend your "getaway" time with us here at DBH. Thanks for being superb guests as well as for your recommendation to others and we do hope you visit us again on your next visit to the Caribbean side of Panama. Many safe and happy travels - Amy and Brian

After getting married in Playa Bonita and beginning our honeymoon sailing for four days through the San Blas islands, my husband Steve and I spent the final leg of our Panama trip at Dolphin Bay Hideaway in Bocas del Toro. We stayed in the Sunrise Room, at the entrance away from the main lodge, which is on a dock over the water and perfect for us - we can't imagine staying in any other room! After a day full of activities, it was great to have the dock to ourselves to refresh before joining everyone else in the common area at the lodge for a drink and dinner. Amy and Brian were excellent at making sure everyone was taken care of - some days we went snorkeling in beautiful coral reefs by the Hideaway, other days we went on a day excursion to an island with beautiful beaches.

The breakfast and dinner with the group was always delicious - familiar dishes like French toast and omelettes were served with local ingredients like guava syrup and homemade chombo pepper hot sauce. If you get the chance, definitely try their unique take on the pina colada - I don't remember the name of it, but it's made with a local fruit and the resulting cocktail tastes like apple Jolly Rancher!

It was a fantastic place for a honeymoon but I imagine it would be a great place for older children to experience as well. Bocas has everything - beach, water, mangroves, jungle - something for everyone! DBH provides five-star hospitality while remaining true to the Panamanian experience of Bocas.

Thank you so much for everything, Amy and Brian! We hope to be back in the Sunrise Room as soon as possible :)

Congrats again on your wedding and we hope your years together bring you many more celebrations in Panama and with us here. The DBH team always aims for the ultimate travel experience - so to receive this tremendous response from you is appreciated by us all. Thanks for choosing Dolphin Bay Hideaway for this special occasion and for being incredibly kind, fun and generous guests. The Sunrise room is definitely a unique setting and it was a pleasure that you enjoyed every minute of its appeal. We especially value your mention that we are "remaining true to the Panamanian experience of Bocas" which is extremely important to us. We realize you both have exceedingly demanding careers and lots of places to visit, but we also know good Karma will one day bring you back to the Hideaway!

We spent two nights at Dolphin Bay Hideaway as part of a four day Bocas del Toro leg of our trip. We stayed in the Bay Room, which was large, clean, and had a comfortable bed. The highlight of the property, though, is the beautiful verandah area where you can lounge on comfortable furniture and hammocks, and enjoy the view. As other reviewers have said, the pictures online don't do it justice.

During our stay we paddled on SUPs, did a local hike and we also snorkelled around the mangroves. We frequently saw dolphins, both from the boat and just sitting on the verandah - very cool. We also saw a red frog just as we were leaving the island to continue our travels. The best part of the trip was watching the local school children paddle their way to the nearby school, and then visiting the school to drop off some supplies that we had brought. The kids and teacher were very grateful and we were rewarded with amazing smiles (see Pack for a Purpose website).

Brian and Amy were great hosts. Their food was very good - breakfast was substantial enough to carry us through the day with just a smoothie before dinner. They were always available to answer our many questions about the area and off-grid life. We happened to be the only guests at the time we were there - it was great to have individual treatment but it would be equally great to have other travellers to exchange stories with.

As other reviewers have said, this is an off grid, island experience so if you are looking for air conditioning, nightlife, and no bugs, you are in the wrong place. One recommendation is to wear bug spray in the mornings and evenings - some people might not get bitten but for some reason, the bugs loved us. Also our room was quite hot on our second night and the ceiling fan is not really above the bed - I would ask for a floor fan so you can stay cooler.

Thanks, Dolphin Bay Hideway, for a great time!

The entire team at DBH is so pleased you had a fantastic experience. We understand you both work very hard for vacation time and budget, so spending it with us is truly appreciated. Going over to the school is often a guest highlight when it's open. Thanks for your generosity and spending time with the children - it was obvious they loved your endearing attention. It was so much fun having you here and we do hope you visit us and the spectacular Hideaway verandah again someday. Vancouver and the area around your cabin sound gorgeous, but who doesn't love a fantastic Caribbean vacation, right? Thanks for taking the time posting this lovely review. Many safe and happy travels - Amy and Brian
