This guest called to reserve a room during during a peak weekend when we were almost full. With just one room available he was told to make a payment asap to block the room for him. He did not do so immediately and in that time the room was reserved by someone else through one of our OTA’s. It’s first come first served in all hospitality businesses.

Magnolia estate is located near Kerela border, towards the end of Coorg (if you are not coming from Kerela ;-)). Its well maintained coffee estate with big rooms/cottages, restaurant and lakes. Before I give further feedback I want to highlight the few fine prints I missed while booking assuming the bar facility and Wi-Fi in rooms will be provided if the resort is charging a premium, but that's not the case. TV also has Tatasky connection but only a few channels work, so if you want to watch TV you would probably have to pay additional charges. So confirm before booking if these things matter to you.

We went there as a family of 4, and we overall had mixed experiences. Here is what worked well and later I'll tell you what didn't.

What worked well:
- Nice clean, serene estate with a lot of natural beauty and with enough social distancing. The walk in the estate and the lake was a real stress buster.
- Big rooms so you can spend good time indoors also. Good for a big family with kids.
- They arranged a small event for families and kids on new year which was really good and everyone enjoyed it a lot. Thanks a lot! Pravin was very friendly and managed the event well.
- Staff was polite and smiling (Though not very skilled or committed I suspect)

What didn't work well for us:
- Room service was slow, but that's understandable since the estate is big and rooms were spread out, but carelessly messing up order is bad. I had to call up after an hour even though the person who took the order said it would take around 30 mins but when i called up they realized they didn't have my order. They took order again and by the time it was delivered to our room it was 1.5hrs and kids were quite cranky. Carelessness of staff was quite evident. BTW they gave me 2 bills for the same dinner at the checkout time even though it was delivered once, which again showed carelessness of staff. Thankfully they removed the wrong bill when I pointed it to them.
- Next day when we ordered food we kept a time margin and they took more than enough time to deliver the food but when we unpacked the food we realized that cutlery and plates were not given. I had to again call them up and it took another 10 mins to get it and by that time food had cooled down. Again carelessness and lack of attention to details.
- Next morning as we started to freshen up, I realized the water was only trickling through taps in the bathroom. I thought they would notice it and fill the tanks if they were emptied overnight but again they didn't do anything until we called them and complained about no water supply. They said it would come in 15 mins but even after 30 mins it did not start, so we had to wash our faces with bottled water and went to breakfast. luckily by the time we came back water was back and we could take a bath before checking out. Again this showed carelessness on their staff.
- When we went for breakfast, it was limited but unlike previous days today we found an insect in idli. After our experiences the night before and in the morning, this didn't look much so we just skipped the idli and ate something outside on our bay back after checkout.

Overall a good place to stay peacefully if you don't want to be disturbed, but if you are fussy about facilities and service, then it may not be a good choice.

Room tip: Room closer to reception and restaurant may get faster service so go for it, otherwise all the rooms looked spacious and good to stay.

We are a family of four with 2 young. We were really looking forward to this having been confined indoors for a long time by Covid. And the resort or the team did not let us down.

Below are some things that stood out for us:
- Very warm team. Everyone, from Praveen the manager, to the restaurant team ( the waiters and the Chef), the housekeeping team, Puneet, the clubhouse in charge, went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The food at the restaurant was fantastic. Puneet, who led the plantation walk for us was very knowledgeable, thoughtful
- Fantastic location and views
Driving from Blr, this resort is probably closest as compared to its peers. And the views are just stunning. The beauty &serenity it offers as compared to daily city life is something that will stay with us.
- Great facilities
The cottages are well-appointed and well-maintained. The club house has great facilities and its collection of books is not something that you would see in every resort.

Some things to watch out for:
Leeches - Given the resort's fantastic location, this is fair game and something to be expected. A suggestion to the management would be to advise people to carry shoes with them ( as part of welcome mail or website).
Food at the restaurant does take some time which is understandable., but something the management team could look at improving.

Overall, Magnolia is a place that we would highly recommend and something that we would definitely visit again.

Very disappointing. The property is beautiful, the location breathtaking. BUT. There’s a big but. The staff and management are not courteous. Room service sucks. They refuse to provide even the basic services to the room and will not serve absolutely anything near the pool! We went for a family vacation and the management did not cooperate at all. We were charged a hefty amount but service was no where near the benchmark.

On top of that the property is infested with Leeches! On complaining, the staff says that leeches are good for health! They are everywhere and we could not enjoy our stay at all.

Hello Varsha and family. With the availability of social media at your finger tips it’s very easy to write a bad review about a business , you should have probably read all other reviews to see know that the problem is not with Magnolia but with you and your group. You behaved so badly and treated the staff with such disrespect , we stopped short of refusing service to you. Despite the extremely unpleasant experience with you and your family our staff were decent enough to put up with your extreme behavior. We have complained to MakeMyTrip as well and requested them not to send us guests such as yourself. We would rather not have the likes of you stay with us. We didn’t enjoy hosting you as well. Please take your tantrums to some other hotel which will put up with it. You are not welcome to stay with us ever again.

One fine day we a group of 3 friends decided to quickly take a break from the city hustle bustle. It was also a much awaited trip as it was almost 2 years we couldn't much do anything due to the ongoing pandemic. We quickly took the odds out and finally decided to visit this resort. I would like to go through the minute details and observations of this resort.

Booking: Booking/reservation was hassle free. One thing I felt was there was a confusion between two parties on the amount to be charged because one person gave a different value than other :)

Arrival: Google maps doesn't correctly take you to the right property in first place. There are two entrance to the resort. The entrance which has the name board is fully closed and unmanned/locked. There is an other entrance which doesn't carry any information of the resort. This actually confused us and few other guests also roaming around identifying the correct entrance. Finally after calling up the reception, they guided us to the correct entrance. Please note, you would have to park your vehicle in the designated parking slot. Resort has a omni pick/drop service to the reception/your room.

Check-In: I personally felt the check-in process was a bit chaotic. We were not been informed about the pre-requisites correctly (for example: Covid vaccination details of the guest). It would have been ideal if these details were collected during the booking and this could probably make the check-in process much faster. We were extremely tired and thirsty but the resort didn't provide us the welcome drink even though we saw it available. Upon asking for water/drinks, they apologized and provided it to us.

Resort: Absolutely no doubt that this resort is in a calm, peaceful lush green vegetation. Chirping of birds are so soothing to ears. Going for a walk around the property will definitely tune your inner soul.

Room: Rooms are rustic type . They are extremely big and spacious. Few may not like this if they are not accustomed to the rustic outlook. Resort has done a good job to install the mosquito net to the windows. Please note, it is a forest area and there are high chances of insects sneaking into your room. But remember, it would all be part of the fun!!

Room service: I believe this is something the resort management needs to work upon. They have a very very tight and limited menu for room service. Weird part is, they have everything available if you were to walk upto their restaurant. Doesn't make sense.

Cost: This is the most important part when you try to judge if the resort is really worth it. This resort looks extremely expensive in terms of room cost as well as the food. Food is extremely expensive for no reason. All we could think is probably they are trying to recover quickly from the losses the pandemic might have induced on the hotels.

Restaurant: Food was absolutely tasty and were served quickly as well.

Overall, the resort is in a beautiful location, please do take a walk in their huge 75 acre property. There is also a beautiful natural lake within the property. The only drawback we could think of is the pricing when we benchmark with other resorts with the same setup (In Kushal Nagar and Madikeri).
