We had a wonderful stay in Rhodes, we were booked into one of the self catering cottages (Eduan Cottage) it was nice and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We ate pizzas at Walkerbouts and they were delicious, the gluhwein was just as delicious and perfect for the very cold nights. We really enjoyed our stay in will most definitely be back again. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful; we were made to feel at home. Well worth the visit.

Hi Cherie,
My apologies for the tardy response but the notification somehow ended up in my Junk mailbox.

Nonetheless, I am delighted that you enjoyed your visit to Rhodes and Walkerbouts in particular.

Looking forward to the next visit.
Cheers,
Dave.

After a cautious drive on the rutted road from Barkly East, we found ourselves in the quaint village of Rhodes, Eastern Cape Highlands and followed the signs to The Walkerbouts Country Inn & Pub. We were immediately struck by the friendliness of the management & staff, ably led by big, bearded Dave Walker, and changed our reservation from 1 night to 2 nights to take advantage of the village itself as well as the fine hospitality and quality food. The rooms are large (some with eerie, squeaky floor boards!) and tastefully furnished with period furniture and the dining room and passage walls are adorned with Walker family collectibles, so you really feel at home. The pub offers a very wide range of beverages to satisfy all tastes and having a tipple in the lovely gardens adds to the enjoyment. Very highly recommended, but a word of warning - avoid exiting Rhodes via Naude's Nek Pass, especially if it's raining, unless you have a vary capable 4 x 4 and nerves of steel. If in doubt, consult the very helpful lady at the info centre, Margi.

Room Tip: Book in advance because it's a small inn or request self-catering houses in the village but bring your food because there are no shops!

Very friendly staff. Great food. Well kept place. Good prices. Helpful people. Was a great experience. You cannot make a mistake in staying there. Close to Tiffendel. The local people support the venue. The German visitors were in love with the place. South Africa at its best.

After a hard motorbike ride, a place to truly rest! Comfortable and clean rooms. Beautiful garden. The best meal ever! I regretted not having more lamb. Welcoming owners and well trained staff. Well worth a visit.

Overlooking the side of Rhodes is Walkerbouts Inn. As we were running late we phoned from Naude's Neck,to confirm that we are still on the way and requested a meal. A very friendly lady, Mare, answered an ensured us that she will wait for us. A good surprise,as she was the chef of Walkerbouts. When last were you greeted by a friendly chef, whom prepared our meal. The Inn has a well stocked bar and sell the local brew as well. House is turn of the century but very clean. The front of house manager, Rick, even treated us with song while we were eating.
The gardens are beautifully kept and an extra bonus is that there are free wi fi. Rhodes does have a "special" feel to it and one can really just unwind here.
Naude's Neck is beautiful but not for the faint hearted
