“A Perfect Trip”
Reviewed 9 April 2012

My husband and I just returned from the most wonderful 4 night experience. We stayed in the Milagro Suite at Rancho Pescadero. The staff, Carla, Carla, Victor, Don and the rest of the crew couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. We started each day with our light breakfast delivered to to our room and ate on our patio looking at the ocean. The Yoga/meditation with Lee, bike rides to Cerritos beach and to the local coffee shop, hiking to remote beaches were highlights of our trip. But the real treat was just lounging around either by the pool, beach or at our patio. The entire resort is comfortable, gorgeous and beautifully maintained. Even the housekeepers were smiling, friendly and gave me a quick tour of some unoccupied rooms. It was my first vacation where I actually took photos of the pool area and architecture to remind me of the designs when I got home. We loved the no tipping until the end, and felt very safe and comfortable the entire time. Our only complaint was we wish we could have stayed much longer.... This is the type of place you dream about and can't wait to return to. Thank you Rancho Pescadero!

After landing in SJC and driving around the two main cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo I was afraid we had made a terrible mistake coming to this area -- the two towns felt like venice beach, ca or atlantic city - and the big private all inclusive resorts with high rises on the beach were not anything i was interested in. We drove the currently arduous trip up the coast (due to road construction due to be finished in late April) and arrived at Rancho Pescadero and within minutes -- knew this small boutique resort on the beach was exactly what we were looking for. Gracious staff, lovely quiet grounds and beach, big well designed rooms -- in fact the whole resort reflects some of the most thoughtful, comfortable design while still maintaining a great aesthetic. and to top it all off -- the food is world class -- the chef is original and inventive -- and happy to please his guests. all in all a perfect trip!

Room Tip: all rooms seem to have ocean facing views -- if you don' t mind stairs the upper floors have ast...

From the moment you walk across the outdoor lobby until you wave to the staff as you drive away From the first moment you will know that you are a valued and welcome guest. Every employee quickly becomes a trusted friend who can be depended upon for help in any situation. The house policy of shared tips paid as a voluntary percent of the total bill at the time of check-out prevents the sense that people are being nice just for the tips. . .they are being nice because they are nice people who appreciate your having come to their beautiful rancho. The rooms are lovely, the views beyond description, the food and drinks hand-crafted from local products (often grown on the premises). The no children policy results in a quiet, worry-free beach and pool experience and a romantic ambience for couples and friends. Wake to bird-song and lounge in a private palapa-covered divan at sunset, then dine on fresh local fish and home-grown lettuces with local cheeses. What could be better?

Room Tip: They are all good, but we liked the quieter hacienda rooms by the smaller pool.

We were looking for some warmth and researched on the internet some places in Mexico that were not the big-campus-all-inclusive scene. We found it at RP. The reviews on this site were completely accurate. No... seriously. Part of the adventure was getting to the place [yes, the road is still under construction, so rent a jeep]. But if you need a peaceful, reflective, quiet, unbelievably picturesque destination.... well, this resort is for you. Although I can't call it a typical resort as the staff make you feel like part of their family. They knew our names, remembered our favourite drinks, and helped us to get to know the local area. Heck, we even cooked with the chef one amazing evening! Chef Bueno, his wonderful sous chefs, and the two of us cooked up a beautiful appetizer and authentic fish tacos! We chopped, tasted, drank wine, and laughed. Amazing!

Danny, Karla, and Don do an incredible job as representatives of Rancho Pescadaro. Just amazingly real people. We loved hearing about the vision of the owner [yes, Lisa we heard some wonderful things about you!] She wants to make RP a truly unique experience from the way the staff are treated to the desire to keep the ranch intimate and charming. She has figured out a factor of success... great people working with you.

We are home now and it is cold out, but the warmth of our week at the Ranch will stay with us for a long time. We highly recommend the experience.

Things we discovered:
1. Rent a Jeep. The highway is awesome in some places and washboard in others. Many local roads to the beaches etc are dirt.

2. Baja Beans. Oh yah baby! We are coffee hounds and some great people from Vancouver [yay!] opened this funky little cafe right up the road. [Still had wonderful lattes at the Ranch every morning tho']

3. Sunday Market. Great local crafts, art, and music. Held at Baja Beans.

4. Good sunscreen. The relaxing loungers by the pool + the incredible drinks [the Pescadero Mojito is a winner] + the slight off-shore breeze = a nasty little sunburn

5. A good book. We read and read and read some more.

6. Book a massage. We walked the length of the beach each day. Fab workout for the calves! A massage at the end of the week was incredible. Right on the water. Seriously hedonistic.
