“The best Spa in North Bali!”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

We have stayed in the Seririt area near Lovina for two months renting private villa and had massages in several Spas in the area. Zen Resort was the ultimate winner! We ended up going there many times as no other spa in the area came even close to their level of service and professionalism. We are all adults in our 50s had different treatments and many different massages. We like them all! The best one men liked was massage given by two therapists, and Ayurvedic treatment was the #1 choice for the lady. Warning the Thai massage is for the person in good physical shape! We always had a lunch or some snack after our treatments in the pretty setting of the small but cosy restaurant near the pool. Staff of Zen spa is incredible, we felt always so welcomed and spoiled there! The only suggestion we have is to make this place more accesible for mobility restricted people. We had difficulty to bring my dad to this place, even he was given a very professional massage given his condition. I definitely recommend anybody who is visiting North Bali to go for a massage or other treatment at Zen Spa, you will not be disappointed!

This place is amazing - we had an Ayurvedic treat for 1.5 hours....just out of this world. Picked up from our villa - completely focused on what we wanted to achieve from treatment and our relaxation.

We stayed at Zen Resort in January as part of a diving safari with Aquamarine Diving - Bali. It was great! Resort is on a hill, and room patios and restaurant have beautiful ocean views; the resort is about 10 minute’s walk from Puri Jati beach. Large old-style beautiful Bali rooms with modern conveniences (AC, fridge, etc…). A serene setting with nice restaurant and full spa with many treatment options in various modalities (Auyervedic, traditional Balinese, etc…). Food was very good, and can be consumed at poolside tables or at room patio, the latter a must for rainy conditions. Our muck dive here was mediocre, but it could have been due to rainy conditions and poor visibility. Day trip to Banjar Hot Springs and the Vihara Buddhist temple was worthwhile.

It is worth making the trip to the north of Bali just to be able to relax at the Zen Resort. I stayed there with a friend and we ended up doing lots of things while also having a great time just doing nothing.
I especially enjoyed the ayurveda treatments which were really reasonably priced. The four hand treatments were heavenly! The only thing I found very odd was the fact that there were other people walking past you while you were lying naked on the treatment bed. That was particularly strange as most of the guests there were prudish Americans! Ii have never been to a ayurveda treatment where you a naked and there are other people moving past. That was the only drawback, but you get used to it and it does not happen all the time. Other than that, the treatments were wonderful. I usually had a treatment in the morning and then another one in the evening. The food was not that impressive there. The buffet was fine, but the menu was not that great. I got sick eating fried eggs and cabbage with everything. The morning yogas gave a great start to the day. The staff knows you by name and they are extremely attentive. The cleaning staff make wonderful flower arrangements on your bed and doorstep. The outdoor bathrooms are nice. You can organize dolphin sun rise tours, city tours and diving trips to local sites or all the way to Tulamben. I took the whole day Tulamben dive trip and ended up sitting in a van for 2,5 hours each way with two dives at the wreck. As it is such a classic Bali dive, I would recommend it to all. The views are nice along the coastal road, but you feel like having a massage at the end of the long day! This would be the ideal hideaway if there were not those early morning prayer calls from the distance. At least I woke up for those, the minarets were far away in the city, but the wind carried the voice. The setting of the hotel is fabulous on the top of a hill. You can admire the wonderful views at th pool side restaurant and the garden areas, and your porch, if you are lucky with the location of your room. Anyway, I liked the stay and the staff!

Room Tip: room with a view towards the sea
