Beautiful church / cathedral set within a walled courtyard. Worth having a stroll both around the courtyard (church is quite large and nice to look at from different angles) and inside the building itself.

Its history / myths surrounding it make this place interesting as well.

Thank Joost G

It is believed to have Jesus’s robe buried in this cathedral, also has other religious significance's which are depicted by the paintings inside. To know the complete history, I recommend to visit with a guide.

Frankly we saw so many churches while in Georgia, as there are so many! this one is nice cathedral... surrounded by many small shops. You can get Georgian hot karak chai, coffee and many more eatables around. There are many street vendors carrying pets, birds, peacocks etc who for a small charge will let you get snaps with the animals

Well it was rainy then. From the parking lot, it took 5 minutes walking. Shops were not all open yet. Entering the gate, I could here a nun reciting or reading loudly the Bible. Over the side door at the altar, I could here the choir singing. They seemed preparing some ceremony.
Well decorated inside and the big picture of Jesus were impressive. And there was a big tree outside the church. Enjoy them~

Amazing cathedral... surrounded by amazing streets and shops. Best place to get Georgian Churchkhela, wine icecream, hot karak chai and hot corns in cold winters. Very picturesque!!!
Best place to get souvenirs at a good price.
