Review of Pokeno Motel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 Sept 2017
Arrived late and tired into a small town in the grip of road/construction works. The motel was very good - clean, tidy, excellent amenities, comfy beds, very well equipped kitchen. Warm and friendly welcome. Nowhere to eat unfortunately. Front room had lots of noise from the truckstop across the road.

Great units very spacious whether studio 1 or 2 bedrooms. We had 6 units for family. Owners very helpful throughout from initial pencil booking to confirmation to arrival through stay to departure. Semi modern well equipped and comfortable. Would use again.

We booked last minute as we were just off an international flight and didn't fancy driving straight through to the Coromandel. The manager was wonderfully friendly on the phone and even though we arrived after the office closed he told us just to knock when we got there. The room was modern with plenty of space, spotless, very comfortable and there was the added bonus of a spa bath ... perfect after a very long day travelling! The bed was super comfy and even though the motel was full, it was still lovely and quiet. The manager was more than happy for us to leave our car parked while we wandered around the Sunday market the next morning and even recommended some stalls worth a visit. Would not hesitate to recommend ♡

We booked this Motel last minute as we did not want to make the drive from Northland NZ to Rotorua in one day and wanted to get through Auckland on the first day. It is a basic Motel at the end of the Main Street which consists of about 10 shops. It was very clean and well organized with large spacious rooms with kitchenettes. I think it is popular with truckers and there was a big gravel lot in behind where they would park. It was nice and quiet there and the owners have a small bar lounge area next to the office. It is family owned by a Kiwi couple, and well looked after.
It was less than an hour south of Auckland and has a very popular ice cream stand on the Main Street that offers cones up to 10 scoops for bargain prices, there were line ups out the door.

I would recommend this hotel for a stopover or if you need a comfortable stay in the area.

We had a concert in Auckland and the only motel that suited our budget was this place. Great beds, great spa and great staff for something that is well under half the price of anything in Auckland itself.

We arrived earlier than expected but the lovely lady at the office told us to try the amazing Pokeno ice creams whilst we wait, and we thoroughly enjoyed the huge ice creams that were on offer.

The room was airy, extremely comfortable and the kitchenette was well equipped with things we needed before (and after a concert) the beds were extremely comfortable and even though the other guests at the motel were going racing that day and the market setting up next door, we didnt hear any peep of them which is always a bonus.

Will be coming back in a few weeks too for another concert.

Room tip: The spa rooms from what I understand are on the ground floor which all ground floor rooms have great access.

After staying in our camper van, it was a pure delight and luxury to stay here. A friendly welcome from the lady on reception and a spotless room. Couldn't recommend it more highly. Kitchen facilities in the room were spot on, no need to empty our van out with our own stuff. Thanks Guys for the great stay.
