Description: The Eleonas Country Village complex represents the Cretan gastronomy which you can relish at “Elia”, the traditional restaurant in the heart of the complex. Mouthwatering products of the Cretan land, local recipes cooked with care, along with an extensive wine list from the Cretan vineyards guarantee an unforgettable gastronomic experience to all visitors and guests. By meeting the necessary standards and requirements, the restaurant holds the “Quality Label of Cretan Cuisine” and focuses on the exceptional raw materials from the nearby farms that are perfectly combined in an exciting range of traditional Cretan recipes. The virgin olive oil comes from the complex's olive groves while the various types of traditional cheese from the family’s model dairy. A wide range of the products that you can taste at Eleonas Country complex come from the organic vegetable garden within the grove’s limits as well as the region’s nearby farms. The restaurant’s menu varies, depending on the season. Refreshing, colourful salads with vegetables and greens make a terrific accompaniment to meat and fish. The delicious trout from the lake near Zaros village is an excellent quality fish that enriches the flavour of many recipes. On the other hand, the fresh and tasty meat served at Elia restaurant comes from local nearby farms, with some of them being on Mt Psiloritis, and is cooked in traditional recipes either in a wood stove or on the grill. You can savour delicious pies with wild mountain greens kneaded into doughs or local cheese and traditional salted or smoked meat and sausages, all perfect appetizers for fine raki and wine. At Elia restaurant, you will also taste home-made spoon sweets made with love and pure ingredients. The fruits are freshly picked from Eleonas’ trees and made into syrupy bergamot, quince and other sweets. Both the restaurant’s exterior and interior are tastefully decorated with natural elements such as local wood and stone. In winter, the fireplace creates a cozy, warm and inviting atmosphere while in summer the cool chill out terrace afford an incredible view of the overwhelming nature landscape where you can sit back and relax. For our little friends, there are two well- equipped playgrounds, inside and outside of the restaurant. Elia restaurant is a nice place to take in the view of Eleonas Country Village that stretches along with the magnificent nature that embraces it. Elia restaurant is open to non-guest visitors and welcomes on an everyday basis locals and guests longing for traditional authentic flavours and tastes.

Been there 14 years. Family run atmosphere, no-frills recipes generally executed the way they should. Excellent (!) cretan sausage (with vinegar) with little fat. Had I known I would have ordered just that (multiple portions)... Dolmadakia (vine leaves with rice stuffing) as I prefer them, i.e. with not too thin/not overcooked leaves. Excellent pilafi (rice). Very good kontosouvli & kleftiko. Stamnagathi boiled just right. Ofto (or antikristo, depending on which part of Crete one comes from) a bit overdone (but that is the cretan way) but very tasty. Fresh (no typo) fries just a touch oily. I don't like raki, but their version with pomegranate, they could have just kept coming indefinitely!

We stayed at the hotel for a family holiday so we ate here for breakfast and dinner most days. Food was consistently good; plenty of it and great variety for us and the children.
Service excellent and selection of local wines really nice to sample and everything reasonably priced.
As far as we could tell also the place for locals to dine with their families so always a good sign!

Both breakfast and dinner were included in our overnight stay and we were amazed at the quality of both. The dinners were some of the best we had in Crete, the wine choices superb and the staff friendly and helpful. On Sundays this was a destination for families from Crete. It was truly a slice of life that you rarely see.

We lived at Eleonas cottages and had half board, so we had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The stuff is very nice and hearty - thank you very much - and the view on the mountains around is amazing.
We had the choice of one starter for each of us of a choice of about 20. Tsatsiki and the Oven feta was a dream. As main dishes the kids enjoyed their Chricken Nuggets (fresh breaded filets, not instant crab!), meat balls, spaghetti bolognese or Noodles with tuna sauce. We, as we are Pescetarians, had some great fish dinners and vegetarian dishes. The breakfast is very rich with many housemade things, warm stuff, fresh fruit even with the facilty to make fresh juice of it. The Citrus marmelades were excellent - even for Germans ;-). As dessert we had sometimes fresh fruit, baked things, creams or ice creams. There's absolutely no need to eat somehere else if you are around.
