“Beautiful, peaceful and yet not remote”
Reviewed 2 October 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We treated ourselves to three weeks at Poggio Bello and had a wonderful holiday. The house is lovely and stylish set in beautiful gardens - both are very well looked after. The view over the valley and the mountains is breathtaking. The pool is generously sized and you can definitely properly swim. Inside the house is decorated like a home rather than a holiday let and it is roomy and elegant. There is an OK TV with both a DVD and satellite link. Although there is no a/c the main bedroom has an excellent ceiling fan and Alexandra (who helps manage the house) helpfully provided a stand alone fan on request. Her and her husband Manfred were very friendly and kept the place exceptionally well - Alexandra's bread, jams and wine were also excellent. The local village was an easy 5 minutes walk and if you stay you must get Fabio who runs the local bar to cook for you - his T-bone steak is amazing.Ronald the owner was very helpful with maps, directions and general tips. The region is lovely and we did manage to tear ourselves away from the villa - San Marino, San Leo and Urbino were the highlights. Every local restaurant was good - you can trust Ronald's recommendations. Ronald tells us that next year there will be a dish washer and probably solar panels.

It is always such a joy to hear that our guests have enjoyed their stay at Poggio Bello. I have not personally met them but our correspondence made me feel as if we were friends and this is how I would like to think of our guests as we run the villa not for profit, though of course a loss would not be acceptable, but as a home from home villa with the profits plowed back into the property to maintain it for the guests as well as ourselves.

“Lovely place and great house.”
Reviewed 20 September 2016 for a stay in June 2016

The house is very private and outside a small village. The house is authentic with great furnishings and art on the walls. Three large bedrooms and two modern bathrooms plus separate WC on the ground floor. The outdoor area is like a park, beautiful with roses and flowers and its delicious to eat outside with the barbecue. The swimming pool is delicate and very clean. We loved the place and the region and we were very welcome by the locals as well. We love to come back.

“A perfect idyll in beautiful Italy”
Reviewed 14 September 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Villa Poggio Bello is a real treasure, tucked away on a hillside near the very wonderful, fortress town of Sant'Agata Feltria - home of the annual truffle festival! The villa is blissfully quiet with large, cool rooms, wifi and a beautiful garden. The swimming pool is ideal and the view breathtaking. If you're looking for a getaway in a gorgeous rural setting, that's nonetheless close to many different interesting places, you won't do much better than this. As a starter for ten, Ravenna is just an hour away and it's the most amazing place for art, architecture and more. As a bonus, it appears not to be on the standard tourist trail either.

“a house with a view”
Reviewed 11 October 2014 for a stay in June 2014

As we liked the view, the garden and the peace of Poggio Bello in our vacation of 2013 so much, we returned in 2014 and as it was feeling very good again, we will come back in 2015!
In June the pool is still a bit chilly; the altitude of 600 m brings cool nights, so we opt for July.
We can absolutely agree with all the good points that other reviewers did mention.
We also agree with one of the reviewers that the rooms downstairs are a bit dark. Cutting some trees (except the chestnut!) will make the house a lot lighter.

“Quiet villa with stunning views tucked away, yet walking distance to village life”

We visited this property in August and the sun shone every day. Our days were spent by the pool ( which is large ) looking out onto the beautiful vista, enjoying walks and visiting some amazing places. We enjoyed a glass of wine watching the marvellous sunsets, listening to the church bells in the far distance and soaking up the real Italy. Despite our lack of Italian we were understood and made to feel very welcome by the locals. We have never been to a friendlier location. Food in the local restaurants and further a field was fabulous and so very cheap! Local homemade produce and wine was available from the house keeper if required. The house is in the most beautiful setting, high on a hill overlooking the village of San Donato. The interior is immaculately clean, beautifully decorated with art work and antiques filling each room. The beds were extremely comfortable and the home had everything one requires for a short or long stay. The photos above are accurate, you will not be disappointed. The gardens are mature and well tendered - an english garden in Italy!
If you are looking for a holiday to get away from the madding crowd this is for you. Yet, this area is rich in history and gastronomy and offers more day trips than it is possible to take in a two week break. The secluded villa is a delight yet the villa’s strength is that the local cafe/bar is a 5 min walk away and the main town Sant'Agata Feltria which contains a supermarket, cafes, grocer, butcher, baker, theatre, pizzeria and weekly market is 2.5km away. There are some excellent restaurants which are scattered along the routes to other villages and towns – all featuring the local delicacy truffles on their menu ( when in season).
We have visited many parts of Italy but this region surprised us with its rustic charm, its cheap yet good living, its refined landscapes and friendly locals.
Just to add we took our three children aged between 11-6. They loved the walks to the cafe to buy icecream and we couldn’t get them out of the pool!
The villa contains two log burners so I would imagine it would be a comfortable, snug autumn/winter location too. To add - if you are a walker or cyclist this location has alot to offer.
