What a place! With mama in the kitchen you get surprise after surprise on the table. Simple but delicious meals. The wines that go with the meal are a well kept secret, we went back for all of it .

Our group of six ate here at the outside terrace two Saturdays in a row, being introduced by Catherine and Domenico at BB Il Convento. We had lovely experiences and terrific meals! 7-9 courses preparered by mum and dad Bellicosa in the kitchen while one brother served us at the table, and Antonio, the winemaking brother, engaged in our choise of wines. We had his last notte of Rose' from Freisa from hos cellar, and his very good Barbera afterwards. He even brought in different grapes from his vineyard to illustrate his thoughts on the different grapes. The food is rich, seasonal aand local, the price is very reasonable, the place is a gem!

We dined here last week on the recommendation of Christine & Domenico at B&B Il Convento.

WOW - what a recommendation.

This is a beautiful little farmhouse with land and vineyards just a couple of minutes from the B&B.

The decor is simple but clean and fresh.

We were given a huge welcome - as we opened the front door the chef (Mum) shouted a big welcome through the kitchen to us and then her son who takes care of the service came to meet us.

We were sat, given water and then relaxed to enjoy an evening of surprises. Teh menu change based on what they have available - there is no menu, just a sequence of dishes freshly prepared.

Also the winemaker 'Bellicoso' works with them so serves his excellent wines - make sure you try the barbera - big and powerful!

It seems every evening starts with home made roughly formed 'gnocchi' with brown butter and parmesane - a great mouthful to start

we then enjoyed home made pasta with meat ragu
a game terrine (maybe pheasant/ guinie fowl)
spinach and ricotta pie
mint risotto
braised beef for the Mrs and roasted rabbit for me

and finished with piemontese chocolate and a peach tart

When you look at what every leading chef/ restauranteur is trying to do - its basically this - from Noma to Eataly - home grown, authentic, seasonal constantly following the seasons.

This little farm house does it beautifully - with mum in the kitchen- dad helping and their son taking care of you out front this is as heartfelt, warm and authentic as it gets.

the pride the family have in what they do is incredible and it was an wonderful evening.

Go, call in advance they only have 4 or 5 tables

the prices are cheap - we had 7 courses although it can go up to 9

we paid 25 Euro per person for the food and water and about 10 Euro per bottle for the wine

its a bargain - i think they can, should and deserve to charge more for the massive effort and care they put in to deliver this wonderful rustic quality.

Go, enjoy its really a great evening
