“Unique, chic hotel next to the sea...perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2012

We arrived at the hotel with our 2 year old son for our 3rd visit. The hotel is perfectly positioned on the edge of a sandy beach. This is a stylish hotel with an air of sophistication.

The rooms: the sea view rooms are the highlight of a stay at this hotel. The rooms are well equipped with a kitchenette, comfortable beds and walk in shower. The decor is modern.

Food: Outstanding. Fresh locally sourced ingredients. The cook is amazing (she even took the time to teach me how to make imam bayaldi!). The specials are a real treat. I would recommend the orange pie and vanilla ice cream (addictive).

Staff: friendly and approachable. Nikos always goes out of his way to make you feel welcome.

Children: the pool is ideal for young children. We used the playroom when our 2 year old needed to escape the sun! It was well equipped with a small slide and plenty of toys. It is supervised by a childminder 5-7pm (she may venture out to the pool if no one else fancies being inside). We used the babysitter (good rate) and were extremely happy with the service provided. Good children's menu.

Overall a memorable stay and we will be visiting again.

Chose this hotel based on numerous positive reviews and it did not disappoint. Beautiful property, stunning views and beach, wonderful, comfortable apartment and brilliant food. Owner Nikos is a magician with people and makes sure everyone is having the best possible time. He sent us on a full day drive to Elafonisi beach that was the highlight of our trip to Crete. Add to that a superlative staff for whom nothing is too much, and a dining experience highlighting local Cretan cuisine. It is paradise. If you can only stay in one hotel in western Crete, make it this one.

Room Tip: As others have advised, get a room away from the pool to avoid kid noise.

Good location, fine food at reasonable prices, very friendly and helpful staff.
Add the permanent sun, the sea and Chania, with its great surroundings, and you will understand why Mieke and I went back within a year, and will go back for sure.

Room Tip: just ask for seaside

We have just returned from our third visit to the Ammos in two years and are already planning to return. The rooms, the food, the staff, the setting, the amenities are all first class. Our son is now four and he has loved every visit, this time he said he wanted to stay forever. One of the good things about the hotel is that you could have a great holiday without leaving , however, if you do want to exore Chania is a ten minute bus ride away and is a beautiful venetian town with plenty to keep you busy.

I cant speak highly enough of this hotel. Putting it simply - great location, lovely rooms, great for families, delicious and reasonably priced food but above all wonderful staff. Nothing was too much and every request met with a smile. We loved it and will be back.

Room Tip: If you have a young child who needs an afternoon sleep a poolside room is ideal.
