Description: Relaxed and informal. Some communal dining and some smaller tables. We are a butcher using classic methods from British and European sales to produce our own cured meats. We also take influences from American BBQ to produce well cooked smoked meats. We make everything possible ourselves. We make Pastrami for the Reubens, Franks for the dogs. We are very pleased with our award winning burgers. Be sure to ask what the secret is to a great burger (by the way there is no secret just use great dry aged Devon beef with salt and pepper).

Tucked away behind the sailing club the mantra could be ‘beef, beer and rugby’. Simple wooden furniture and blues/country music with live rugby on two screens. The restaurant has created a reputation for smoked meat and the ribs with pulled pork and chips was a truly filling and tasty meal. Good value for money.
Easy, casual atmosphere which attracted customers of all ages.

Thank you very much for your feedback about Pig and Pallet. We take all comments on board and they are discussed with the team.

We have a policy not to respond to individual reviews and comments on Trip Advisor. If this is a problem for you we are really sorry and get in touch or pop back in and we can chat.

If we get anything wrong in our service or quality we will put it right and apologise, but if you don't like the style and philosophy of Pig and Pallet then there are many other places to eat in an environment where you will feel more relaxed and comfortable, as will we. Not every place is the same and this is what makes independent businesses so great and exciting.

If you had a problem and you mentioned it at the restaurant we would have explained, but if this is the first time you are telling us about it then here are some common observations, which often get left to Trip Advisor to complain about.

The chicken is not undercooked it is smoked and brined and this is what makes it look pink, just like the pork. If you think some of the food tastes of chemicals it will be because we cook it on wood so it is properly smoked. This is not as common as you would think for people selling smoked food but we believe it should be cooked on wood just like they do in the USA. We are really sorry if you don't like this but this is what we are looking for in our smoked BBQ food.

If you go to any diner or BBQ joint in America, you will see the burger baskets. That’s what they use and that’s what we use. Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives programme on Food Network (Chanel 41), is where we get some of our inspiration from.

We aim to make the most amazing food from great high welfare produce, if we fall short then please tell us.

Our service is relaxed and friendly and inclusive, if we fall short then tell us.

We aim to serve you as quick as possible but we do make everything in house so it's not always fast food quick, if you think we are too slow please tell us.

Our first core value as a business is to be nice, if you meet anyone of our team and they are not nice please tell us. If we have customers who are not nice feel free to tell them!

I hope you liked your visit to Pig and Pallet and you get what we are about, but please be nice and have fun.

My friends took me here one evening. Not a place to dress up as it's very rustic but that's the charm of it. It's a casual relaxed dining experience with phenomenal staff. My friend had the mac and cheese and loved it. Her husband and I shared a meat platter which was huge and extremely tasty. The BBQ ribs were some of the best I've ever had and I live in the USA so I've sampled a lot. It was a bit chilly as it was January but we had plenty of cushions to snuggle up to so it wasn't a problem. Overall an extremely good eating experience, delicious food, excellent service and most definitely a return visit is on the cards next time I'm there.

We were in Topsham for a cold winter walk up the Estuary which we would recommend. It is a really friendly flat walk out to the bird sanctuary with some lovely scenery and interesting buildings in the town. Anyway we walked through the Town and spotted this place tucked away on the road away from and beside the Quay and clicked it for the return

It’s a quirky hipster place with long tables benches an open kitchen and a very warm welcome!! the staff are really helpful I would recommend booking if you can but they did get us in on spec. Make sure you have a look round as they are quite playful with their Resturant’s image.

It is a meat eaters paradise lots of ethically responsibly farmed produce and they can tell you which farms they get their meat from. It is a bit pricey in places but for these ethical and local slow food reasons and the fact it tastes really good it is justified!!

They cook everything to order and so be prepared to wait but it is worth it

Drinks include locally sourced beers lagers cider and soft drinks and the place has west coast American laid back hipster feel which I like. Food is served in baskets or tin plates which adds to the quirkiness and relaxed dinning!

I had a Devon lager just a half as driving so was really miffed as it was delicious and I wanted more after tasting it !!!! - will catch the train next time

I had a standard burger and fries at £14 which is a bit more then usual but what a burger it was possibly one of the best I have had out in a Restuarant. I added bacon and cheese as an extra! The fries where excellent crispy and we’ll seasoned.
I particularly enjoyed there own bourbon barbecue sauce that was on the table

My wife had hot chicken thighs which she said was really tasty and our only criticism was the skin was a bit soft and would have been perfect if crisp however she loved the moist flavoursome chicken.

Particularly liked the fact it was child friendly with games scattered around. Also on offer is their own charcuterie which looked really good and is also on the menu. They also serve really good coffee cocktails and wines.

Top tip no parking here but it’s only a short walk from the main car park or an even shorter one if you can park on the quay car park

We will definitely be back for a sharing platter and definitely put it on our list of lunch venues when we visit Topsham great food good service and really nice environment thanks to the Pig and Pallet

Thank Steve B

A group of us had a meal in The Pig and Pallet on the 30th December. Most of the group had the rack of ribs, but I went for the Venison Cheese Steak. All I can say is that it was truly yumtageous. Unfortunately we live up on Yorkshire or else we would go back again tomorrow. We also bought their 2018 calendar, very clever and well constructed. Go there if you're ever in the area, it's simple food, excellently prepared, and no Southern Poshy Pants 3 cooked chips!!!

Popped in just for drinks on this occasion, and whilst waiting for the hubby to get the car due to torrential rain, I spotted the jars of the crackling on the bar and succumbed to the temptation of it crying out...”EAT ME”

A takeaway carton was filled to the brim, I was thinking, I hope this is good, because it’ll be a waste as l’ll never eat all that.

Fast forward a day later, and 1) it’s nearly all gone, 2) I’ll be returning to get more for me, 3) I’ll be returning to get more for family members and 4) I wish I wasn’t currently on holiday and that I lived in Devon
