Our trip to Topsham and East Devon was very enjoyable.
The cottage was clean and tidy with all the things you would expect.
Location of the cottage was good, being central to the town, with all places of interest within an easy walk.
Two things to consider.
The spiral staircases are a challenge. The lower one is not too bad, but the handrail is very close to the wall and could do with adjustment or re-placing. The upper one is steeper, and great care is needed especially if visiting the toilet in the middle of the night!!
Car parking in the town is an issue. Overnight is no problem in the pay and display across the high street. During the day though, you have to drive around a bit to find a free parking space, and it could be some way from the cottage.
Overall we were very happy, and would visit again in the future
We have just returned from a wonderful return stay at Courtyard Cottage! Although the weather wasn't particularly kind, we still managed to get out and about every day, using the bikes that are available with the accommodation.
Once again, many thanks to the owner - Hazel - who ensures that pretty much everything you might need for a short stay is available in her delightful property.
With any luck, we hope to return again for a third visit next year!
Spent a fabulous week in this comfortable and ideally situated cottage. The cottage has everything needed to be a home from home. It is mere yards from a fabulous selection of restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops. There are numerous beaches a short drive away, or Dartmoor for green wilderness. Hazel ensures everything is clean and welcoming, with essentials so you do not need to rush to the shops - just relax. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Highly recommend this property. We will return, and soon I hope. Thanks.
We had a great week in Topsham at the Courtyard Cottage. The cottage is well situated in the village, well equipped and cosy. Topsham is a great historic village and ideally situated as a base for travelling around Devon. There are lots of great pubs and restaurants nearby and lots of places to walk and cycle. There are only two downsides that travellers need to be aware of. Firstly, parking in Topsham is extremely limited, so be prepared for a lot of carparking fees unless you are prepared to drive off to surrounding locations by 9am, or prepared to move your car every hour for limited free car parking. Secondly, the wooden stairs on the spiral staircase to the bedroom on the second floor are very tight and very steep, so you need to be mobile and agile, particularly if you need to get up for the toilet in the middle of the night. If these are not restrictions for you, you will love staying at the Courtyard Cottage.

The cottage is beautifully presented, with a fantastic kitchen fully equipped with everything you could need. The bedroom is lovely and spacious. Topsham is a beautiful town to visit and the cottage is perfectly situated, being just off the high street so close to all the lovely restaurants, shops and the quay, but also has the benefit of being very quiet. For two Londoners this really is a treat. Thanks!
