The temple is dedicated to the fearsome form of the Devi known as Tara. She is the presiding deity of Shimla and from her temple you can see much of what exists today as Shimla city. The temple is atop a hill and as such can only be approached by vehicle unless you have the stamina to trek up the hill. There are feasts (langars) every Sunday and if you want to avoid the crowd you can visit the temple on a working day. There is a small shop for sourvenirs and a residence for the priest near the temple. Other than that there isn't much else. This makes it a perfect place for worship, spiritual enlightenment and amazing landscape photography.

Situated outside the Main City, 25 Km away... You will mesmerized by the beauty of temple. Also Whole Shimla Scenic view is available from here. @Tourists don't skip this temple on your trip.

Tara Devi Temple is situated on the hilltop near Shoghi on Kalka Shimla National Highway. You may reach the temple by road from Shoghi. You may also go by bus running from Old Bus Stand in regular interval. The frequency of buses on sunday is particularly high. Another option is to trek. The trek starts near tara devi railway station on the main Kalka Shimla Highway. It takes around 1 hour. The path goes through scenic beautiful forest and hills. En route you may see many beautiful wildflowers and birds. If you dont opt for trek...you may trek from tara devi temple to Shiv Mandir. In spring time i.e. around March and April..the trek to Shiv Mandir is covered with red Rhododendron flowers. The trek will take around 30 minutes but it is worth taking..

Temple is located on the top of the hill and once you reach there it has very beautiful view.
it is somewhat 5-7 km from tara devi station and 15-20 km from shimla.
Temple is getting renovated i think so they have created temporary temple inside one of the building.
