“Comfortable with very helpful staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2011

Stayed there two nights. Very comfortable bed, nice pool and hot tub with a pool slide that kids clearly enjoyed. Breakfast was okay but not great and I would have enjoyed either a mini-bar or a place nearby where one could get a drink. However, the staff was extremely helpful since we were arranging a family event. The hotel is very popular - was apparently full that weekend.

We stayed here one night and thoroughly enjoyed it. We used our OnStar to get there and it dumped us in the middle of nowhere and not even close. GM will have to add it to their data base.
The hotel is in the SW in a new mall area. A car is an absolute necessity. There is a shopping centre across the street with a Walmart and McDonalds but I believe that was it for food. We thoroughly enjoyed the Bulk Barn for getting a few items in bulk at great prices.
The beds were very comfortable and the house keeping was exceptional. The breakfast was one of the better ones you will get. The room was not completly soundproof but it was acceptable. The front staff were polite and helpful. It is a new hotel so there are a few minor issues to be worked out yet.
Dean in Red Deer, AB

Room Tip: Try the Bulk Barn across the street for a great selection of food items.

We stayed there one night. The hotel is nicely decorated and our room was nice. We were satisified until 11:30 at night when somebody walked into our room. They left immediately once they realized somebody was already in the room. The front desk then called us and told us "we were not supposed to be there but it would be ok for tonight and they would not make us move" How considerate of them since we checked in about eight hours earlier and because of their mistake we would not have to move our sleeping ten month old daughter.... not impressed! Other then the interruption and the rude call from the front desk our stay was enjoyable. The continental breakfast had a good selection and the lady taking care of it was very nice.

This review was written by a business traveler who frequents Marriott and Hilton-branded hotels in North America and around the world. This review is based on a 1 night stay in October 2011.

Pros:
- Great new decor.
- Decent service during the day (night attendent annoyed with phone calls in the evening).
- Ok breakfast (free, so the price is right :) ...but watch for pre-made pancake-style eggs and sausage - not healthy, and not great tasting. But the pancake machine itself is good.
- Light above shower/tub.
- Great toiletries from Bath & Body Works.
- Waterslide in the great-sized (for this class of hotel) pool.
- Modern and decent fitness gym.
- Black-out curtains as a previous reviewer indicated.
- Walmart across the street.

Watch-out list:
- Ridiculously dark corner - just a small LED light on the desk in the corner, making it poor conditions for working/reading.
- Only three lights in the room: one on the bedside table, one floor lamp by the TV, and one ceiling-mounted light in the entry.
- Beds are higher than that of most hotels (bed frame, full boxspring, and full-height mattress). Not an issue for me, but presumably, folks less than 5'6" may have trouble getting onto the bed without a bit of a jump.
- No food for sale in the lobby other than in vending machines.
- No restaurants nearby; need to drive quite a ways down 22nd to get to any (most of which are fast food).
- Small cramped business center with two computers in the lobby...one patron blocks the space of another.
- Note (not the fault of the hotel): 2012 maps for Garmin GPS units do not have the hotel's street nor address because it is a new road. Find the hotel based on crossroads.

Overall, it seemed fairly clean, modern and a safe choice of hotel in the suburbs; however, keep in mind you are relatively (for Saskatoon) far from downtown and restaurants, and the place is better suited for vacationers not needing to work on papers / laptop devices in the evenings.

"Upscale" Best Western. Decor similar to the grander Sierra Hotels and Suites - impressed! Fitness room better than average. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast good but would like a better fruit selection and "machine" coffee was underwhelming.
