“Best meal ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2012 via mobile

Wow what can I say, we had the full 7 course meal with matching wines. Simply the best meal we ever ate. Probably the most expensive one also but well worth the $300 per person. The service was also 5 stars. Congratulations Panache !

I will come back when my wallet will

“Best in Quebec.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2012

Would be a 3 star in France! Everything was delicious and delightfully presented. Service impeccable. Wine list extraordinary.
Loved the ambience. Stay at the Auberge St Antoine and have the chefs menu with all the wine tastings. That way you wont have far to stagger back to your room.

“The best breakfast I ever had”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2012

Remember this. Do not, repeat, do not, automatically pour maple syrup on the Lily's French toast, which you MUST order. This is such an extraordinary dish, despite looking more or less like all the other French toast in the world, that you have to taste it without adding syrup, which will take over. Not to say that the Quebec maple syrup isn't delicious, just keep it off your plate for a while and try it on the last few pieces.

The second best breakfast dish in the universe is the Breakfast a la Panache, poached eggs with confit, Hollandaise, and bacon. Splendid.

Both of these plates also look great, along with gorgeous small fruits and delicious homemade jam.

The breakfast is a bit pricey, but you won't care.

We did not stay at the hotel next door - very expensive and in Lower Town, which is not as exciting as Upper Town near the Chateau, but made a reservation after reading the glowing reviews here. You can sit on the terrace - but you would miss the striking dining room decor.

Simon was our waiter - enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Altogether a terrific experience.

Note: We were there Labor Day, so breakfast was served till noon, but it usually finishes much earlier, so check on this.

“Auberge San Antoine”

Ambiance, and choices were excellent. We had a group of 16 people and they arranged a private dining area that dated to the 1800's

“Bon, bon appetite!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 September 2012

While staying in Auberge St Antoine, which I think is the best hotel in Quebec City, I was tempted to try their famous restaurant – and am very glad that I did.

Their space is rustic, stylish, and inviting, tables places sufficiently far apart, no crowding of guests. Their service is impeccable. Their food seemed very complex, every dish a symphony of tastes. One wanted to concentrate on every dish, all of its diverse tastes blending into an artistic whole, from an amuse-bouche through the dessert.

Their wine steward was simply amazing. While I saw him discussing wines with another guest for 10-15 minutes, he did not patronize those of us with less knowledge. He listened attentively to one’s likes and dislikes and then recommended glasses of outstanding wines. His single malt recommendation at the end of our dinner amazed me. I’ve been drinking single malts for decades, but he recommended a glass of a gorgeous Scotch I did not know existed.

It was a wonderful and memorable evening!
