What a wonderful hotel even though there isn't an elevator. We stayed on the 3rd floor in a lovely, comfortable room w/ brick walls, a great modern shower, good air conditioning. The breakfast that is included is gourmet and quality. We will be staying there for our anniversary next month. Parking is two blocks away & easy to get to. The hotel is near everything in the old city.

Room Tip: The stairs are steep since this is a very old building so book according to your own mobility.

My wife and I stayed four nights at the Auberge Place d'Armes June 28 to July 2, 2012. Easy check-in, great people at the front desk. Our room overlooked the street in front of the hotel. We opened the window and listened to music from down below. Breakfast every morning in Le Petit Bain included. Ask about a superior room, worth the price. Easy walk to all sights in Old Quebec.

Thank you for sharing your expérience with us on Trip Advisor. Our location in the middle of everything, as you wrote, is unique and each of our guest can walk everywhere to explore our beautiful city. In our renovations while keeping the old stone or brick walls with added modern amenities like soundproof windows that allows you to be in the mood of a so vibrant city or relax in the quietness of the room.
We are also very proud of the breakfast that we serve in our restaurant. It is included in the room rate all year long and we offer more than 8 different warm or cold delicious choice cook and serve to the order.
Au plaisir de vous accueillir à nouveau

We loved this hotel. When we looked out of our window we could see the church next door with the artisans selling their work , we could see the cafe's below and the chateau de Frontenac .It was a very quaint and lively street st Anne right smack in the middle of everything but the double panes windows make sure you do not hear a thing when they Are closed . The building has lots of character, the room we stayed in was very spacious. It had a king size bed, a queen size Murphy bed and they gave us a cot for our ten tear old. Right outside the room was a little sitting area with a fire place and a computer to our disposal.the room also has an electric fire place which must be really nice in winter.
The room was decorated in a modern style which was a neat contrast with the original stone walls and wooden beams.
Bathroom great with jet shower and huge fresh towels every morning. Really clean, a MUST for us.
Breakfast is included and is served in the restaurant below .
You can chose between nine fixed breakfast options. I had the healthy breakfast which was muesli and yogurt, toast and jam and as much coffee or an espresso. My kids and husband had either scrambled eggs and bacon or e three egg omlette which also comes with any drink they wanted. My only complaint would be that the meals came with fruit and beans which were in such minuscule quantities they could have been served in a thimble and they were not tasty either.
The hotel is walking distance from everything. Great hotel (not cheap)but would absolutely stay again.

Bonjour lovetotravel54321,
The entire team of the Auberge Place d’Armes would like to thank you for your wonderful review. Your comments are a source of motivation for us.
With his unique location it is so easy to walk all over the city and discover all the charms of Quebec. The hotel has a lot of character since it is 2 old buildings joined together. In our rénovations we did our best to save the old walls , while adding modern amenities( soundproof windows, heated floors in the bathroom etc) to provide you an unique stay and each room is unique in size and décor.
I will pass on your kind words to the housekeeping team as well as to our chef and his crew at the Pain Béni without forgetting the front desk. We are proud of our team ! Everybody loves his job and loves meeting interesting people that choose to stay with us !
Au plaisir de vous accueillir lors de votre prochain séjour !

Hotel room very minimum....toilet in a tiny space like a closet; bathroom just had a curtain and part of bedroom next to queen bed. It's in the old historic area of Quebec on a very touristy street. Thank goodness we had a/c and could close windows because otherwise, you'd hear all the noise from the street and cafe noise. We had problems with the wifi in room and also shower head leeked and had to be replaced. Staff very nice; however, for $250 a night, a poor deal. Room certainly wasn't comparable to any first class motel. But to be fair, all the hotels looked lousy and the restaurants are sub standard and tourist traps.

Room Tip: you are better to get one facing back and not front of street with cafes and noise.

Bonjour Susan M

We appreciate your feedback and are disappointed to read that you did not enjoy nor your stay in our hotel nor your stay in our charming city. In December 1985, UNESCO added the historic district of Old Québec City to its prestigious World Heritage List. Québec City became the only city north of Mexico to receive this honor, one it shares with such age-old cities as Tunis, Cairo, Damascus, Jerusalem, Rome, Florence, Cracow, and Warsaw.

Our hotel is composed of 2 patrimonial buildings joined together and the <newest one> was built in 1849, We had them restore with skill in order to keep the old stone or brick walls for the next générations while adding all the modern amenities for the confort of our guests.

Let me please come back on some your observations. About our contemporary design, should you have prefered a more classic ambiance at your check-in if you had mentionned it to our front desk staff they would have offered you another room that would have better suited your needs.

Space is a prized commodity in Old Quebec so we have choosen for that particular room to put the shower/bath at that place so you could have, while relaxing, a beautiful view of the Château Frontenac or admire the original 1850 brick wall in your room !
A few days prior your arrival we installed a new led shower head that change color with the temperature of the water… I am sorry that a leek occured on your arrival, but minor flaw happens also with brand new equipment. I am happy that we it was fixed as soon as you reported it and again apologized for the problem.

As you mentionned it our large hi-ceilings windows are soundproof and allows to choose from listening to the music from street performers or enjoy the cool atmosphere of our silent AC.

Again I am sorry that your only night stay in Quebec was so deceiving as for the hotel and the city.
