“Elegant, Comfortable and Great Espresso”
Reviewed 4 July 2012

This is an well designed, stylish hotel, with helpful and professional staff. It's located in the lower town in a restored building, and is just steps away from great restaurants, art galleries, and the historic port area. There are two styles of room decor: "Vintage Modern" and "Classic Contemporary." We had a Vintage Modern room and it was on a high floor, so we had excellent views of the St. Lawrence River and the port district. The room (Superior class) was comfortable, although not particularly large, but with a high ceiling and large windows. There's plenty of light during the day, a little dim at night due to the dark-painted ceiling and indirect lighting. There is, however, a bright reading lamp over the easy chair. They provide a modern-style desk and flat-screen TV installation, with free wi-fi and adequate power outlets for laptop, phone chargers, etc. The bathroom was large with a glass shower enclosure. Note that some rooms have a shower only; others have a bath/shower. The room was very quiet at night, probably helped by the heavy construction typical of the older buildings in this district.

An elaborate continental breakfast is included every day, with a sumptuous variety of croissants & breads, fruits, cheeses, cereals, etc. and a wonderful automatic espresso/cappuccino machine. (The latter is available for the guests' use all day.) We enjoyed having breakfast on the outdoor patio in the rear of the building. The staff was courteous and knowledgable with restaurant advice and related information. We will visit again!

Great location in Lower Town for a healthy vacation in beautiful Quebec City. Very close to the amazing riverfront bike path, and good choice of bike rentals -- Bixi in the parking lot, or Cyclo down the street.

The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful. When I couldn't find any ibuprofin in the middle of the night (not even the convenience store around the corner), the front desk clerk got on the phone to the other hotels searching for some.

Also loved that L'Echaude, my favorite bistro in the old city, provides room service to the hotel. What a bonus!

This was my first time visiting Quebec since 23 years ago. I chose this hotel based upon the TripAdvisor comments and ratings. I am very pleased after staying 3 nights here. Quiet rooms, modern bathrooms (except don't like shower tubs), very comfortable beds, big TV, free Wi-Fi everywhere, wholesome breakfast included, Subway and gas station 100 feet away, views of the city or St. Lawrence River are pleasant, concierge was helpful, and really enjoyed the comfort and luxury of the first floor sitting and eating lounge area. 1 free computer with printer too.

Price of $300 per night was a little more than I prefer, however, really enjoyed our stay. Restaurants across the stree were all very good. Strange that sunrise is about 4:30 a.m. Yes, 4:30 a.m. It is not a typo.

Quebec is a charming, mellow city and this hotel matches it well.

Stayed here in 2005 and again two weeks ago. Still a great hotel and very wonderful staff--especially the parking valets and Concierge ladies. They made all meal and tour reservations, drew maps and the parking valetys always made sure our 12 passenger van was ready for us--not an easy task in the cramped parking area.

Pardon the delay in reporting. We stayed here last summer, but I wanted to write a review (however belatedly) because of the greatness of this hotel. Very spacious rooms, extremely comfortable beds, and superb service. As the French say, "Ca vaut la peine." It's not cheap, but more than worth the cost.

Pardon the delay in responding. I read your Magnifique comment before but reviewing it again, I thought you might want to know that our rates go lower in the low season and, our woodburning fireplace is on and hot chocolate is served...

We hope to see you again soon. Warmly,

Sylvie
