My husband and I went to the Fairmont in October and it couldn't of been a better experience. When we arrive we asked the front desk if they had any upgrades available. We were able to be upgraded to the gold floor, which gave us access to the Gold Lounge and boy was it worth it.

The Gold Lounge includes Breakfast, Snacks throughout the day, Happy hour & Appetizers and Dessert. They also had unlimited coffee/lattes, soft drinks, sparkling water. For an extra $75 a day it was well worth the room upgrade and access to this lounge.

This is a fairly fancy hotel, but not five stars. There are some things that could be better.
The most annoying thing is that they do not provide newspapers! Part of the fun of a holiday is lounging in the room with coffee and reading the paper/doing the puzzles, and we were deprived of that!
There were bottles of water beside the bed on our first night, but not on any of the others.
The sheets and towels are thinner than one would expect in a property of this price.
That said, the location is great, and the staff very helpful and accommodating. Fany on the front desk is a real star!

I stayed at this property over Memorial Day weekend with my husband and two children. We used our free nights to stay. Pros: great service by the concierge in advance of our stay securing restaurant reservations and communicating with us; friendly greeting on check-in; excellent location; spacious room; prompt, professional and personal response to my hotel review by the manager. Cons: the online check-in process didn't quite work -
the valet was supposed to have our key ready, but did not so we had to wait in line to check in; the room was worn and needed updating, the couch had a stain; the pool area was not large enough for the hotel; if I was paying regular rates for this hotel I would feel it was overpriced.

Room Tip: Ask for an updated room

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!
This beautiful old hotel is so rich in history, and its location high above the river and city offers amazing views.
There are limited dining options within the hotel, but it is located within an easy walk to many of the outstanding restaurants in the old city. We did enjoy dining at Sam's, and room service was excellent.
The friendly staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and very accommodating.

Lovely hotel, phenomenal service from check in to check out.
Can't beat the location! Gorgeous views.
P.S. If you come with a child, they will set up a lovely crib with a baby bathrobe and a little stuffed animal that my daughter sleeps with until now :) ...it's the little things and Fairmount figured it out :)
