We had read good reviews of L'Avenue and were anxious to try it - we loved it so much, we ended up going three times during our week in Montreal! The first time, we got there around 10:30 and waited about a half-hour - when you see a big queue in a city with restaurants on every corner, you know it's probably good! If you don't want to wait, get there before 9:30 on weekdays or before 9 on weekends, at least in our experience (August).
The service was friendly and polite, the decor was cool and funky (yes, the bathrooms are worth a look!), but the food was the star. Both savory and sweet dishes were amazing. All meals come with a plate of fresh fruit, which comes out right away. The eggs benedict was one of the best we've ever had, and my husband also loved the breakfast poutine, which isn't really a traditional poutine, but more like an incredible skillet dish. The breakfast potatoes are excellent as well - well-seasoned and flavorful. The pancakes and French toast were fluffy and delicious. Among the three of us in our various visits, we tried the carrot cake, salty pretzel, nutella strawberry, and poached pear pancakes. They were all fabulous, especially the carrot cake and poached pear.
The coffees were great (loved the nutella coffee) and there are a variety of tea choices, all loose-leaf teas. But the fancy juices are truly amazing - huge, beautiful, and bursting with flavor. At first, we wondered why they were so expensive, but once we ordered them and saw them, we understood.
I love to have a bit of everything when I go out to breakfast, so the "indecisive" menu option was perfect for me - eggs, potatoes, toast, two savory sides, and a sweet side. It's a lot of food, but fun to have a little taste of everything.

I can't think of a single thing that was sub-par in any of our visits. Definitely give this place a try!

This place has a great atmosphere, solid rock/punk music, and the food is awesome. The Sweet Salty Crispy Benedict (eggs Benedict w French toast) and potatoes are delicious. The fruit slices were a good addition. The ice coffee is blended and sweet. The music can be a bit loud at times but this place is definitely worth visiting.

I am a person that absolutely hates waiting in queues. To have brunch at L'avenue we waited 45 minutes in line and it was definitely worth it. We tried the steak and eggs Benedict and the crab cake eggs Benedict and both were incredibly delicious. The steak is so soft and the eggs are just right. The crab cakes were super fresh and really tasty. The portions are a bit big though, so I think for a couple one dish is more than enough. We ended up eating the leftovers for two days. Try the coconut milk coffee, its quite special. As to the service, everyone is super friendly and happy which just adds to the whole mood. Check out their famous toilets, really crazy!

All in all, one of my all-time favourite brunches!

Finally a good food spot in Montreal!! I ve been here two weeks for vacation and every day passed by l'avenue and there was so much line (at least 2hours of waiting line). So I came my last day to try it out. Came at 10am. There was one family in front of me so did not have to wait long but after 10.15am there was like 5 couples behind me!!! So watch out, come at 10AM! Great choice of food, got the truffle omelet with mushrooms, HUGE portion, very good taste!!! Finally good food here!! Plus you got a fruit brochettes with every order and that feels good. Also the water tastes watermelon, very refreshing! If you haven't tried this place, it is worth waking up early to try it out!
