Loved the service at the hotel. Had considered staying at the Westin, but glad we stepped up a bit for the W. Took a bit of time to check in, but otherwise no issues. There are 3 bixi bike rental spots right near the hotel, and they are a great way to check out the city.

This is my second stay at the W Montreal. Rooms are really nice, spacious and trendy. Beds are super comfortable. Bathroom materials very good. Great view on the square.
Just one downside (besides the terrible Otto restaurant-see my review separately): the lobby is real dark, you can barely see anything. It is probably meant to be like this but it I don't think it is what most customers want besides a few young party people.

Originally from Montreal and I've always wanted to stay here. So when I came back to visit family of course I decided to spend the extra money and spend a week-end at the W. The hotel like all the other reviews mention is in a perfect location for sightseeing. Its directly connected to the underground city via the elevators and thus makes it very easy to get on the metro. If you arrive by metro make sure you do your check in first since you can not access the hotel elevator from the underground without a key.

The hotel is very modern and very clean. The lounges and bars are also very nice and were always busy when we went. The decor might not be to everyone's liking but for me it was really nice. The hotel is quite dark in the lightning department but that wasn't an issue for us.

We got a room on the 10th floor overlooking Square Victoria with a balcony. The room was a bit on the small side but with the bonus of the balcony it was fine. The room was very clean and again super modern looking. We didn't find the room to be to dark since the room had floor to ceiling windows with automatic curtains. Unlike some other hotels the blinds did a fantastic job of keeping the sun out which was great for sleeping in.

The bathroom was a bit of an open concept but it did have a curtain you could shut if you didn't want other people to see you shower. Overall I was very impress with the rooms the staff and generally everything about this hotel. As mentioned before this is NOT a budget hotel so expect to spend quite a bit if you plan on eating, drinking, and generally doing anything extra other then sleeping. Since that wasn't an issue for us we will be back.

it was a great place to stay while i was in Montreal. The place is nice and quiet during the day but at night the lounge and the club in the main floor gets really good. good crowd, good music etc.
The rooms are really nice a little small but well decorated and very sexy. The shower is a clean glass facing the bedroom( very sexy if you go with your partner).

I enjoy my stay there and will go there again.

This hotel is difficult to review because of all the plusses - and minuses. So first, things to love:
Location. You are right smack between Old Montreal and all that has to offer, and downtown shopping. Easy walking distance between both. It is also close to some awesome restaurants (Og, L'Original, Le Carter, Holder, to name a few.)
Public transportation is all around. The metro, bus stops, and BIX bicycles are right outside the door.
The staff. They are terrific. All very young, mind you, but all customer focused.
The room. Large (I stayed in a Mega room) and nicely - albeit really modern in slyle) decorated. The bathroom is the bomb diggety, big walk-in shower, deep tub, lots of storage, seperate toilet area. Bed is comfy, ventilation is good.
There is a spa and a fitness center on site.

Ok, things not to love:
This place is dark. Dark. By design. You cannot tell what time of the day it is in the lobby. Very hipster mod vibe, complete with techno-chill music in the background that never, ever ends.
It's a local destination. W Hotel has a couple of bars that are wildly popular with the locals. This means that it is busy, even when the hotel isn't full. Don't plan on sitting at the bar to have a quiet drink & unwind.
My room was by the elevator. Although the elevator didn't make any noise, the guests getting off after the hotel clubs closed did. A lot. And for over an hour both Friday and Saturday abourt 2 am. Be sure to specify a room AWAY from the ellie.
It's expensive. A martini cost $20, a glass of wine, not far behind. Breakfast in your room will set you back $30.
This might be an anomaly, but the was an occupation of the park right across the street by an activist group tha was very loud the whole weekend. As my room was right on the street, it was annoying.Be sure to check with the front desk when you make reservations to see if any activity is anticipated, and if so, get a room in the back of the hotel.

Summary. Great location and staff. Nice sized rooms, comfortably appointed. You will be happiest here if you were 21 - 30 and into the club scene.

Room Tip: Stay away from the elevator. You might also a consider a room NOT on the street.
