Pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the people and the cleanliness and beauty of the city. Ideal location for a fall getaway

Even though I arrived in my own car, deciding to leave my car parked in front of my hotel and explore all of Old Montreal and the surrounding area was by far the best choice (and from where I stayed, the start of this street was just 2 blocks from my hotel!). Actually, the many shops, restaurants, bars... on this street can really ONLY be appreciated on foot! restaurants, etc.

On arrival in the afternoon we checked into our hotel, put our bags down and then went to Rue Saint Denis for early dinner (towards 5.30 p.m.). We walked the length of the street and found the place very busy with restaurants of all kinds, mostly affordable by the students. We found a superb Japanese restaurant where we could "eat all you want" for a Senior's price of $23. (Normally $25 for adults). It was a good thing we ate early because most people in Montreal tend to eat after 8.00 p.m. and there were queues everywhere. There were about 7 cooks preparing the food which were brought very quickly to the table and the empty dishes were cleared just as fast. Turnover was great, the food fresh and the salmon sashimi delicious.

This is an interesting Street. Lots of little restaurants and bars with a few shops . Best way of getting there is by foot. Sherbrooke is the nearest metro station. And then you proceed south.
