“A No Brainer”

What a great find in an ideal location. Took a flyer with this hotel, cost was very good compared to others around the block. Had a suite (up grade) and this was at the fron of the hotel but not too noisy at all. Nearly all of the city is easily accessible from here. Breakfast was free and adequate, staff very attentive....why go anywhere else?

Room Tip: Try to get a small suite

Our visit to Montreal was a first for both of us, so being as centrally located as we were staying here was great. I can't remember ever doing so much walking! The hotel is pretty basic, but clean and well maintained. What we liked especially was that it had the kitchenettes and with a grocer a few blocks off of Sherbrooke ( Provige on St Denis) we could bring back drinks and other treats and could cook what we liked if we wanted to stay a night in. Everything is in thing you need in a kitchen is there. We also were impressed how quickly they resolved some noise disturbances and seem to take it very seriously. I guess if I had to pinpoint some disappointing factors were that the beds were uncomfortable for our taste, a bit hard. The water in the hotel felt hard and was abrasive for my skin, ( might not for others). Next stay we would ask for a room facing the back instead of Sherbrooke St. Over the wknd it was quite noisy, esp from the guests of the Holiday Inn right across. Of course, these are very minimal things, nothing that would prevent us from staying there again. I also recommend "like-ing" their Facebook page. We were able to win two nights free due to a FB promotion and a Tourism Montreal promo.

While on a "sisters" reunion weekend in Montreal, my sister, who was in charge had booked all 6 of us into this hotel. It was a great choice. The accommodations are very large for a downtown hotel, with kitchen facilities, which were very well equipped, spacious bedrooms and a living/seating area for entertaining, large enough to accommodate our group of six. The front desk staff went above and beyond with our questions and were extremely pleasant and co-operative. And the price, couldn't be beat for the location. Close to busses and the Metro and walking distance to "vieux Montreal." I would say little sister di and excellent job.

This was exactly what we needed -- centrally located, two bedroom suite w/ kitchenette, lots of space, a nice pool on the penthouse floor with a great view of the city (some reviewers have complained it was cold, but we thought it was fine and our kids had a blast), clean, reasonable beds, pleasant staff. We got our 2-br suite for $CDN165 online. I honestly don't know how we could have done a Montreal getaway weekend otherwise. Our kids are 3 and 1 years old, and usually in bed by 7:30 p.m. When I was a kid, I recall my dad sitting in the bathroom reading a newspaper after the lights went out when us kids crashed in a small hotel room with two queen beds. Now that I'm a dad, I know I couldn't do that. It just isn't a vacation.

Two tiny downsides in my opinion:
1. Parking isn't onsite. It's a 50 metre (yard) walk down the hill at the Delta Hotel. It is a bit of a circuitous drive to get there from L'Appartement Hotel, with all the one-way streets, but the walk is an easy one, particularly after we realized there is a back door to the Delta that is right across from the parking elevator. L'Appartement lets you load and unload your vehicle from a few short-term parking spots right behind their facility. We ended up parking our vehicle for the entire trip and taking the metro (the kids enjoyed the train and we didn't have to worry about find parking) so this wasn't a huge inconvenience for us.
Next time we go back to Montreal, we're definitely going back.
2. In our room, the walls seemed a bit thinner than they perhaps could be. Our first night, around 11 p.m. there was a bit of noise from another room, we think above us. As soon as my wife called reception the sound stopped like a switch had been flipped.

We stayed in a 2 bedrooms apartment. The apartment was vast and fully equipped with sofa, TV, telephone, internet access, kitchen, oven, dishes, dinning table, etc. It has everything you need.

However, the cleanliness was at the limit of my tolerance. The carpet smelled and the sofa also. The curtains were a little bit discolored (or I should say colored by foreign substances). The bathroom was acceptable. Globally, it was not dirty, but simply aging.

The buffet breakfast was standard; there is just enough variety to not be bored, but the quality is average. I didn’t have time to try the swimming pool.

The strength of this hotel is its location. Indeed, it is located downtown on one of the biggest streets of the city. It is full of restaurants around. You can easily walk to the major shopping areas or to Chinatown. The subway station is really close. It is only few steps away from the cultural area and the summer festivals. The location is almost ideal and Montreal is the place to be during the summer with its old town, terraces, F1 race, Cirque du Soleil, and all the festivals.

I hate carpet and especially smelly ones. So I kept the window open all the time and it is noisy all day and all night outside because of the traffic. It is the price to pay to be downtown.

Because it is located in downtown, the price is very affordable for what you get. It is an interesting alternative if you travel in group. It really depends on what you are looking for.
