My husband and I booked a last minute stay online at a very reasonable rate for a queen room including breakfast over Easter weekend. This was my third stay at the Auberge and it didn't disappoint. For those looking for something central in Old Montreal - this property is perfect.

We were greeted outside by the valet who offered us help with our luggage and promptly made parking arrangements for our car. Check in was quick and easy and the lovely front desk clerk offered us a King room upgrade. The room was large and immaculate and featured old stone walls and floor to ceiling windows that looked out on to St Paul Street. The entire experience is like being in Europe. The bed, pillows and linen in this hotel are AMAZING. It is by far the most comfortable hotel sleep I've ever had.

We enjoyed a drink on the patio of the adjoining Taverne Gaspar. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. Took an inordinate amount of time to get our bill and settle our tab. Supper at the same was tasty, but nothing to write home about. Next time, I would opt for other options nearby.

I would advise those that are VERY light sleepers to opt for a room that doesn't face St Paul since there can be quite a bit of street noise, however once asleep, we weren't bothered by it.

As part of our stay we were given $14 vouchers for breakfast at the Tavern Gaspar. On our way through the lobby to the restaurant, we were asked about our plans for the day and relieved of our luggage. Breakfast was very good, but we ran into the same issue with settling our bill and having to wait around quite a while when we were done. When we returned to the hotel however, our car was waiting for us having already been packed. Check out was a breeze and as usual the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

I can't say enough about how much I love this property. This was my third stay and it definitely will not be my last. High praise for Mathieu the Auberge's valet - who consistently goes above and beyond in his customer service.

PROS
- the staff
- the BEDS
- the character of the property
- cleanliness

CONS
- Taverne Gaspar (food is good, service is lacking)
- a bit of street noise on the St Paul side

Someone at the hotel called the day before our stay and asked what time we expected to arrive. We arrived about 1PM as we had told them and our room was ready. This a building in the "old port" section of Montreal that has been beautifully restored. I think the location and the hotel and how attractive it was might have carried the day.
But the appearance and the location aren't big story here as far as I'm concerned, it's the staff.
We were greeted by Yamila at the front desk on arrival. She was friendly and welcoming yet professional. I felt like all the pertinent information was given without feeling she gave a rote performance. I later had occasional to interact with Yamila when there was another guest at the reception desk and one on the phone. I felt like she handled all of our requirements without making anyone feel ignored.
After we checked in Frederick met us and told us he would take care of our car and our bags. The hotel is in an area that is parking challenged. Frederick explained the hotel would valet the car and what the daily charge would be. I'd already picked this up on the website but his clear explanation was appreciated and I would think would be even more so by someone who wasn't aware. He did a great job with our bags and made sure we were all set in our room. We proceeded to a food tour where we unfortunately ended up with our car locked up in a garage on the other side of town the first night of our stay. The next morning after we retrieved our car Frederick asked if everything was alright and I explained our misfortune. He immediately said he would have that night's valet charged removed. This was a nice touch and might be expected by some, but what was special was that Frederick took care of it without prompting. This is the kind of thing that to me separates good service from great service.
We also availed ourselves of the services of the concierge, Lara. We were looking for a place to grab a quick casual bite for lunch and a place for a nice dinner with some atmosphere.
She marked Magasin General and Mondavie on a map and wrote their names on it. We ended up eating at both places and enjoyed both (see TA reviews). What I think made Lara's recommendations work was that she listened to what we were looking for and gave us suggestions that matched what we wanted.
I highly recommend this hotel and hope you enjoy your stay as much as I did.

The hotel and our rooms were beautifully decorated, very clean, authentic to the old town part of Montreal. It's located conveniently close to many sights and Rue Ste Catherine. We didn't enjoy our dinner in the hotel restaurant that much because the music was too loud to have a normal conversation, even though it was only 8pm. Other than that, we would pick this hotel again in an instant.

We loved staying in this quaint, beautiful hotel in Montreal's Old City. We had a beautiful room looking out at the St Lawrence River. The room was very clean and had a very modern bathroom (great shower!) We had the complimentary breakfast each morning at the joining Gaspar's Restaurant which was delicious and very filling....no need for lunch! We also ate dinner there one night and the food was excellent. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I'm spoiled....I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Montreal!!

Room tip: We stayed on the river side...perhaps it is quieter than the street side. I just like to look out at water!

Fantastic little hotel in the port and old town area. We booked a room facing the water. What a beautiful view. The interior was a one side exposed brick wall, very cool and romantic. The staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The restaurant attached to the hotel (Gaspar Taverne) was fantastic ! The food was very good and not your normal restaurant the is associated with a hotel. Gaspar seemed to attract a lot of people and not just hotel patrons. That's a good sign ! My only criticism would be that the bed is too soft...otherwise this place is perfect !
