My husband and I booked a last minute stay online at a very reasonable rate for a queen room including breakfast over Easter weekend. This was my third stay at the Auberge and it didn't disappoint. For those looking for something central in Old Montreal - this property is perfect.
We were greeted outside by the valet who offered us help with our luggage and promptly made parking arrangements for our car. Check in was quick and easy and the lovely front desk clerk offered us a King room upgrade. The room was large and immaculate and featured old stone walls and floor to ceiling windows that looked out on to St Paul Street. The entire experience is like being in Europe. The bed, pillows and linen in this hotel are AMAZING. It is by far the most comfortable hotel sleep I've ever had.
We enjoyed a drink on the patio of the adjoining Taverne Gaspar. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. Took an inordinate amount of time to get our bill and settle our tab. Supper at the same was tasty, but nothing to write home about. Next time, I would opt for other options nearby.
I would advise those that are VERY light sleepers to opt for a room that doesn't face St Paul since there can be quite a bit of street noise, however once asleep, we weren't bothered by it.
As part of our stay we were given $14 vouchers for breakfast at the Tavern Gaspar. On our way through the lobby to the restaurant, we were asked about our plans for the day and relieved of our luggage. Breakfast was very good, but we ran into the same issue with settling our bill and having to wait around quite a while when we were done. When we returned to the hotel however, our car was waiting for us having already been packed. Check out was a breeze and as usual the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
I can't say enough about how much I love this property. This was my third stay and it definitely will not be my last. High praise for Mathieu the Auberge's valet - who consistently goes above and beyond in his customer service.
