Bustling place on a Saturday night, glad we made a reservation! The food is small and shared plates which was fun to try with our friends. Every dish we ordered was unique and delicious: Crispy Frog Legs, Mushroom Tart, Ratatouille, Steak & Marrow, Beef TarTar and Baked Alaska. We definitely could have ordered more because we were still hungry after those items, but we had plans to go to another place for more tapas afterwards. The service was very attentive, however, we found a few of the waiters quite pretentious and felt a little like our every move was being studied. Cocktails were yummy too (even though there was a misprint on the menu that said all were $20 - the waiter did explain this was a misprint, but it's odd they wouldn't have fixed it in time since the menus were obviously printed in-house). Overall I would go back for some tapas to begin or end a night in West-Queen-West.

We came here with another couple a couple months ago so I think some things on the menu may have changed. We got oysters , kale salad, fish sandwich, popcorn shrimp , lettuce wraps and chicken wings . The oysters were just ok nothing special. The Kale salad was very good I don't usually like Kale that much but I thought that this was really delicious . The fish sandwich was good but nothing memorable. The popcorn shrimp wasn't really my thing it was real popcorn on it and I didn't like the texture . Now the best part of our night was the lettuce wraps and the wings they were both so delicious and had so much flavour the meat for the wraps was cooked so well and tender and the chicken wings were flavourful and juicy . We also had some cocktails which were great and the server was great at recommending some of them . It's a very small place , so reservations are needed . We had a great time and the food was delicious we would come back.

Love the taste and texture combos. Service great. Cocktails cool. Location parkdale hip. Obsessive foodies go for the tasting menu... need to reserve

I decided to go to Chantecler last night with a friend, it was a spur of the moment decision while walking down the street.

Atmosphere, music & decor was great, the menu is different & interesting (and small which I like). Dishes are small & it's great to order a handful of dishes and share. We shared 3 different dishes between the two of us. I really enjoyed the fish wraps.

That being said, I found the food to be decent but nothing great. After sitting down, we waited least 15 minutes before a sever even came to our table to say hello or offer some water. The restaurant is small but every table was full (include every seat at the bar) and there was only ONE server!!! We were actually about to get up and leave when the server noticed and finally came over. I think the experience as a whole would have been a thousand times better if the service had just been a little more up to par. Even if they had just one more person waiting tables, it wouldn't have taken so long. At the end we just wanted to pay out bill and go home but the server was so busy he couldn't come to our table for a while.

Our server was nice and helpful but he was by himself. We felt bad for him because he was so busy but it was also frustrating when we couldn't get his attention.

Try to go for the sunday or monday evening and have the lettuce wraps with pulled pork. Best starter dish is the crispy calamari with peanut and the kind of tartare like beef dish with krupuk (prawn crackers) and wasabi. Their spicyness seems mathematically done: it's exactly good. Beer is a good accompaniment.
