The hotel is beautifully designed. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. Bathrooms are very interesting, with shades overlooking the rooms. These are the ups, and if you're into minimalistic design this is your place.

On the other hand, the hotel is in Toronto's Financial District, which means that it's being encircled by huge skyscrapers and after office hours the area is a bit run-down. In other words, I wouldn't go for a walk in the evening. It was also a bit expensive for my taste.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review; I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the design of the room and the hotel. I can understand why you felt it was not an animated street after the office hours as we are located on quiet one way street. We are however in the heart of the entertainment district, west of the Financial District, just around the corner from a wide range of restaurants, theaters and the TIFF Light Box – the home of the Toronto International Film Festival. Our location on Mercer street provides our guests an urban oasis in the heart of the entertainment district and I hope you will have a chance to enjoy both aspects of our location the next time you are in Toronto!

Best

My wife and I stayed here during our marriage weekend and it was lovely. The hotel itself is in the middle of the entertainment district, within walking distance of nightclubs (The Second City comedy club is literally across the street) and lovely restaurants.

Despite that (or perhaps because of it) the hotel is very elegant without being overstated. Walking in, you are greeted by the reception desk straight ahead, a bar to the left and a large wood-burning fireplace to the right. The aroma is awesome! And i was impressed at how quiet the hotel was.

After check-in, we headed to our room (709) where we were treated to a nice set of cocktail glasses engraved with "709". What a lovely reminder of our stay. The room is very lovely with a fireplace, wood paneling throughout, and a balcony overlooking the city. Huge bathtub and great shower, with a second half bath for guests.

The suite was large enough for us to have our getting ready on the morning of our wedding. We also took photos within the suite and on the rooftop terrace which was fantastic for the views.

We ate breakfast on the mezzanine level which was also fantastic.

We liked it so much that we would stay again when not getting married!

Room Tip: We loved the suites - lovely views of the city.

My new wife and I stayed at Hotel Le Germaine on Mercer Street for 4 nights April 6th onwards. We'd just got married in New York in the US and wanted to visit Toronto to relax after the wedding. As we pulled up at the hotel we were very impressed with how stylish the place looked. Being on Mercer Street the hotel is quiet but still close enough to everything to give the best of both worlds. King Street is just around the corner with Queen Street also close by. The CN tower/Rogers Center is probably only 400 metres from the hotel and the waterfront not much further. Chinatown is a 15 minute walk. The rooms in the hotel are large and spacious with everything you could need including a lovely waterfall shower. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Transport-wise the hotel is not far from Union Station and also the Gray Line tourist bus stops outside the Subway shop at the end of the street on King and John Streets. The hotel has what looks like a lovely restaurant attached although we didn't eat there. The chef was on Top Chef Canada during our stay so the food must be of a good quality. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone else visiting Toronto.
