The rooms at Ambercroft are cozy, the beds and pillows are grand, the hot water is strong and plentiful and a surprise-of-the-day-pastry is set out every afternoon in the "brew-your-own" little kitchen that is available to all guests. (Leeanne stocks an impressive variety of Single Brew Cups for tea, coffee and cocoa.)

Ambercroft is ideally located within easy walking distance of the Avon and, a bit further away but still a nice walk to the other theaters.

During our five night stay, breakfast was a fine affair each day. We all enjoyed spirited conversations in which all the guests participated. Certain that all food requests had been met, Leanne would join us at table and she added to the conversation as much as to our full stomachs!. She was brilliant at fulfilling all our reservation requests by doing a tiny bit of wise "juggling" of nights which was just perfect—we simply counted on her to remind us of when and where we were expected each evening!

This is Leanne's first year and I know her warmth and grace and willingness will insure many years of success for her and Ambercroft.

Room tip: I think they are all pretty much equivalent—let Leanne know what you want. The house is on a quiet street so I don't think there are any noisy rooms. It was a very hot spell yet the temperature in the house was always perfect for me. Each room has a ceiling fan and windows that open. We were traveling with my sister and brother-in-law and they, too, were quite content.

We recently stayed for one night (would have loved to stay longer) and were very impressed with how extremely clean the room was and how well laid out the house was. They have a kitchenette for guests with coffee/tea and delicious lemon water available. Our room was #2 (the Spring Room) which was beautifully decorated in green/purple and had a separate sitting room and ensuite bath. The bed was comfortable and we appreciated the ceiling fan in the bedroom. The bathroom had Aveda products (love them) and was also very clean. We enjoyed our breakfast and the conversation with other guests and Leeanne in the morning. It is located very near to many shops/restaurants and a nice walk to the Festival Theatre--about 20 minutes. We will definitely return!

Room tip: Spring room has a separate sitting room and King bed.

Very comfortable beds. Enjoyed sitting on the verandah, listening to the bird songs. Easy stroll (with my 93 year old father in a traveller wheelchair) to nearby restaurants (eg Rene's Bistro) and shops (eg Monforte cheese, Rheo Thompson chocolates). Would definitely stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ambercroft. Leanne, the new owner, is an outstanding host, welcoming, knowledgeable about Stratford and the Festival, and possessing a delightful sense of humour. Her sister, Julie, prepares delicious breakfasts that are beautifully presented, filling but not excessive, and healthy. The house has been thoughtfully restored. There are four spacious bedrooms to choose from. Our room was attractively furnished, and included two very comfortable rocking chairs, plus a small refrigerator. There was plenty of other space for guests to enjoy including a library, living area with TV, and two large porches. Tea and coffee were aways available in the kitchenette on the ground floor and fresh baked cookies appeared at mid afternoon. The house is ideally located close to the Avon Theatre, the main shopping area and most of the restaurants. It's an easy stroll to the Tom Patterson Theatre and a pleasant walk to the Festival Theatre. We have stayed in a number of excellent Stratford bed and breakfasts over the years but this was the best one ever. We will definitely be back.

My friends and I have been staying at Ambercroft for a girls' weekend for years. Now under new ownership, I can say that Leanne McPhie (our Host) is doing a wonderful job! She's made some changes to be even more welcoming for guests. There is a large living room, library and kitchenette available for guests, as well as outdoor seating areas. A mini-fridge in each room, with bottled water and a lovely, locally made chocolate was a pleasant surprise. She has ample information available for visitors and has the personality to make everyone feel at home. The breakfast was really delicious and hearty. We're looking forward to returning again soon.
