“Excellent choice of Accomodation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2006

When we are trying a new place for accomodation I often check online reviews before I go. Since I find them very helpful I wanted to write one so that others know how much we loved this Inn. We travel to Kingston a few times a year as we have children that attend Queen's University and have since stayed in Kingston for the summer. In the past we have stayed at hotels and wanted to try something different. We stayed in the Sandburg Suite - what an absolute treat! Spacious, bright, clean, comfortable and worth every cent. The suite as well as the Chapman room provided us with ample, comfortable space to visit with our children. They also joined us for the breakfast at a small charge, this was always a wonderful start to our day. The coffee and juices were delicious, fresh and constantly being refilled. The cranberry stuffed french toast was a special treat. Having Susan and Beare stop by our table for a morning chat was fun, informative and friendly.. The location could not be better, we parked our car in the back of the Inn (included in the price, hotels often charge extra for this) and walked everywhere on our beautiful weekend in Kingston. I would highly recommend this Inn and hope to be returning again soon.

  • Liked — Availability of sitting rooms to visit with our children, comfortable beds, quiet rooms - no young children running around (like hotels tend to have) friendliness of the owners.
  • Disliked — When we were trying to check in the person in charge was showing around people who wandered in off the street to "have a peek" and I would have appreciated our bags being taken to our room or as least an offer to do so.
  • Tips/Secrets — Try it, you'll love it.

The Frontenac Inn provides excellent accommodations, close to both downtown Kingston, the beautiful waterfront, and Queen's University campus. The inn is a historic building that has been restored beautifully. Our room had all the charm of historic Kingston. Everything was clean and the service was wonderful. The breakfast was delicious and very filling. We loved our stay at the Frontenac Club Inn and would highly recommend it.

I travelled to Kingston on a genealogy quest with my 84 year old mother in August. We stayed 2 nights in the Cartwright Room/suite of the Frontenac Club and Inn. The inn is in the historic district the corner of William and King Sts. King Street is like a step back in time. Gorgeous, old, limestone buildings line the street. There was a farmers and antique market 2 blocks away. The public library which was my destination, was 3 blocks away. There is parking in back of the inn.
The inn was originally a bank and then a gentlemens club. Our room was located in a separate old limestone building, 2 doors down from the lobby and breakfast room. The main lobby has a beautiful old black and white tiled floor with a staircase leading up. Breakfast was great both mornings: fruit and yogurt, fresh baked bread, cranberry stuffed French toast one day and eggs the next day with good coffee and teas. The breakfast room was nicely decorated and cheerful. You could see the wide door to the bank vault in the dining room. We never sat in the common sitting room although it looked comfortable.
Our guest room was spacious and pleasant. There was a small kitchen, a queen bedroom, a bath with a small tub and shower, a small sitting room with couch, chairs , tv and gas fireplace which we used since we were there the morning of the hurricane. Aveda toiletries were provided. We could see the St. Lawrence from the bed room and that wasn't even featured in the room description! What we loved was that the place had been graciously restored but not made to be "too perfect". We had our privacy but Beare and Susan, the hosts, were informative and helpful when we wanted restaurant recommendations and had local history questions.
