Rocks and minerals, geodes and crystals, fossils and dinosaurs. It only takes up one floor, but there's enough to see. Best part is it's free. The prof on site was very willing to show specimens and discuss the differences between geology, archaeology, paleontology and anthropology....wonder why Sheldon Cooper looks down so much on the Geology Dept. It's fascinating stuff. Bazinga!!

If you are interested in Geology, this is the place for you.
This museum is on the main floor of the geology building at Queen's University. It is quite small and has a mixed collection. There is a standard issue collection of mineral specimens. These appear to have been there for decades. There are display boards on several topics including a comparison between the Grenville Mountains which are the ancient mountains at the root of the Canadian Shield and the Himalayan Mountains. Both were formed by similar processes. There is also a new room dedicated to dinosaurs and recent changes in thinking about dinosaurs.
I thought the best thing about the museum was the curator. He answered our questions in detail for 30 minutes and then photocopied some notes on local sites of geological interest. And it's all free!
What a great deal!
