We reserved our table prior to attending the Shania Twain concert. Arrived at 5:00pm to find the restaurant to be sweltering hot and humid. It was the middle of a heat wave and the proprietors decided to save a few pennies by shutting down their air conditioning while the place was closed during the afternoon. The building was so hot and crowded that we literally baked throughout .the meal. We hurried our meal to get out of there. The atmosphere ruined, what could have been an enjoyable experience. No complaints on the food or service, just the penny pinchers who turned the building into an ovan.

Words cannot describe how impressed my whole party was by our time at Shakespear's.
This establishment - a bedrock in Hamilton's restaurant scene makes no and I mean ZERO steps to sacrifice or constrict your dining experience in the name of larger financials.

I start with this note - because with the new age of restaurants taking over Hamilton, they limit your sitting. You get X amount of time to join your dining experience. This fine-dining express is contradictory to what the whole experience should be. I'm glad Shakespear's gives your table the time you need, whatever that may be.

On service:
They do not shy away. The staff are charismatic, pull out wild jokes, and know their menu. Without any notes, these top-notch team of waiter/esses can take you on a journey of their menu. You feel a sense of pride and passion for each item. I can guarantee you will have multiple items you're trying to decide over!
The service also is done properly - women served first, proper glasses used, never clear a table until everyone is done. These often overlooked things are critical to a true fine dining experience. Something the newer Hamilton locations are often passing on to ensure you're pushed out during your unfortunate time limit experience.

On Food:
They have an extensive menu - there will be items for anyone and everyone to enjoy. From start to finish you could see and taste the care in each item. They're not solely focused on creating the most Instagram friendly design with some flavour. Not only can you quickly take a pic to show off - but you are going to be blown away by the flavours.
Our table had a fish special, surf and turf (one with lobster and two with crab), a massive T-Bone, and a petite steak. Everyone left nothing to be returned to the kitchen we were full - but extremely satisfied with every bite of our meals. Pro-tip: if you want a steak cooked medium/ medium-rare etc. order it exactly how you want it. Unlike other locations, these chefs actually cook to the exact level you prefer

Price:
This is fine dining. So yes, prices are expensive. However, compared to other similar eateries in the area we found this to be the most reasonable of them all. Especially on their wine pricing.

I encourage everyone to go and try this location for a special night out. And really understand the standards we should be pushing onto other fine dining locations in the area - this is not something that should be of the past.

Scrumptious food, superb service, great ambiance, an enjoyable experience! The staff are knowledgeable, approachable and are willing to have a bit of fun. Having tables on casters is excellent as for those of us that are less mobile sitting and arising is not as challenging as it could be - kudos to Franco for great attention to detail. And, if you are into pepper mills, you are in for a treat!

The customer service, quality of the food, timing of preparation, everything was perfect. My boyfriend took me here, it was both of our first times and we both had the steak and baked potato. Food was absolutely amazing and our waiter was excellent. More for special occasions as the prices might be a little higher but I can assure you it's worth it. Definitely will be returning.

there are some folks that simply cannot appreciate the nature of a fine tuned extremely efficient hum of a highly recognized and respected operation like the Shakespeare Steak House! We have been to dozens upon dozens of well oiled and terrific dining experiences, and few have attained the meal experience that my wife and I had here....from the moment we entered, to our table assignment, to our wait staff intro, to the fine wine list and suggestions, right through the insistence that we "always have fish on the menu" to the stellar and proud announcement that we have "26 ounce porterhouse" on the menu...we found NO flaws in the way that the staff, waitstaff, and kitchen staff, handled themselves during our wonderful dining experiences. We went to Shakespeare's for the steak, and besides the appetizers of garlic bread, french onion soup, and homemade balsamic dressing on our very fresh garden salads, to our table attendant's red wine suggestion, we awaited our steak order's arrival with anticipation. My wife's issues with gluten and dairy intolerance's were met with such ease that we knew this would be special.....our steak dinners arrived, and now that special moment.....that first foray into our porterhouse steaks......perfectly prepared, easy to cut, and we were BOTH DELIGHTED at the aroma and taste of our meat.....very very perfect. Our wait staff professionally inserted themselves into our meal at the most appropriate moments with such intriguing humour, and at just the right time....and at that moment we BOTH DECIDED this was our FERRARI dining experience right through our dessert menu and the arrival of the finishing touches of the 2 litre candy bowl. If you cannot appreciate the cost involved in such a wonderfully concluded evening, you will NEVER APPRECIATE the tingling sensation of a well tuned operation like Shakespeare's Steak House.
