This spot is quite quiet and a good place to end a walk along the waterfront. It also carries some historical significance, although it is not obvious. There are no plaques and no statues, so prior knowledge is useful.

Overall it is a good place to check out, or for a history-buff it is a wonderful destination.

The area has a lot of construction these days, but if you persist, you will see some spectacular little shops that are full of character and wonderful local pieces.

Had a great chat with K. Penton at K Penton Art. His quirky paintings of the east coast buildings and coastline would make a great and colourful memento of your visit! His shop is not full of your usual 'made in somewhere other than Canada' souvenirs.

Halifax has a handle on historic preservation. Our guide told the story on past efforts to replace the area with glass walled building and thoroughfares.
