Owner description: Experience an exciting part of Canada's history by visiting this 19th-century fort with a sweeping view of downtown Halifax. Between May and October, the Citadel is brought to life by two historic regiments of the British Army - the pageantry of the 78th Highlanders and the precision of the Royal Artillery thrill visitors daily with live re-enactments. The skirl of the bagpipes mixes with the crack of a rifle and the assembly of recruits for the next foot drill. There's no shortage of authentic experiences to view and participate in! Kids will love the Xplorers Program - an activity book just for them. When the sun sets, it's time to experience the other side of the Citadel - join the Citadel Ghost Walk and experience the dark and errie lore from the early 1800's. Tours start mid-July and run every Friday and Saturday nights starting at 8:30pm until the end of October. Cash at the front gate.

A really interesting historical site that is worth taking the time to visit. The walk up the hill isn't too difficult.

We walked up on a Sunday early in April. Nothing was open. Some areas were still closed off for winter.

It was nice to be able to walk around with no one else in sight.

We had a nice visit to the Citadel. However the grounds were very muddy due to the construction work. Still fun to explore despite all the buildings being closed.

My daughter and I had the pleasure of being in Halifax during the first week of March this year. We decided to check out the Halifax Citadel and were very happy that we did. We parked our rental car and got out to check it out. It was not fully operational with staff decked out in costumes the way they are in the summer but we enjoyed walking around this National Historic site. At noon, we were made aware by a security guard that they would be blasting off a cannon. We stayed to watch and listen to that! The Citadel would be quite an interesting stop in the summer when travelling with children.

This is a place becoming more and more prevalent in downtown
Halifax which thinks it is better than it is, and so the price should follow. Had brunch at 230. No other menu available.
Had steak and eggs @ $21. Asked how I would like the steak cooked, eggs came by default on a single piece of toast. Steak was good, but extremely small. Nice looking place at a ridiculous premium based on quality.
