Description: The Townhouse is a cozy, neighbourhood pub, focused on great Nova Scotian craft beer, and fresh, local food. We have 9 taps of NS microbrews, including our own Terry's Best Bitter, brewed upstairs, cask-conditioned, and served on a traditional hand pump. Our guest tap changes regularly, featuring one-offs & seasonals from breweries across the province. Our eclectic menu starts with the best local, seasonal products from the area - from seafood to root veggies - and offers them up in traditional and un-traditional ways.

We were on a road trip to Cape Breton so stopped in Antigonish for an overnight stop before the long drive. We stayed at the Maritime Inn so it was a short walk to The Townhouse. The restaurant does not take reservations so we went in at 5:30pm. By the time we left, there was a line outside.

The lobster chowder and roasted squash salad were delicious. We also ordered the elderflower wine spritzer and apple tart with brown bread ice cream. We had never heard of brown bread ice cream so it was nice that the server explained what it is.

The traditional fiddle music blended with the delicious seafood and pleasant conversation created a lovely evening in Antigonish. The salt cod cakes were a surprisingly delightful treat as was the squash salad served with pecans and fruity soft cheese. My husband enjoyed the oysters and the mussels. What a quaint little university town and a memorable brewpub!

We enjoyed a fabulous Sunday evening with live "Ceilidh" type music at The Townhouse in Antigonish. Even though the place was hopping, Katie squeezed us into a table for two and we got stuck into a locally brewed cider (Bulwark) and "Radler" (beer with grapefruit juice!) Both were delicious!

My blue cheese toasts were pungent and melt-y with cheese, my Husband's mussels, piping hot and steamy.. We followed with Devils on horseback, and a first class chowder. We shared a super-smooth lemon creme brûlée for dessert.

The pub, and Katie were friendly and welcoming, and the music was first class...a true little bit of Nova Scotia for our souls!

Slainte...!

Had the seafood chowder and it was some of the best I've ever had! Nice creamy base with a lot of different seafoods in it. Comes with a couple pieces of delicious bread also. Would definitely recommend.

Ok, best lobster chowder ever in my life with some yummy bread.
Cute little place, very Irish pubby, the menu crazy eclectic and small. Nice find in such a small town
