We can't praise Jenafor and Gerald enough. They were hosts extraordinaire! Gerald picked us up at the airport when we arrived, drove us around to look for bears, found us in the middle of a blizzard to tell us our flight home had been cancelled, and then so very generously invited us back to their home to spend the night. Even though their B and B was fully booked with new guests, Jenafor and Gerald somehow made things work so that everyone had a room to sleep in. And they wouldn't take payment for the last night, saying it was their way of showing kindness when people were stranded. All they asked is that we pay it forward.
The whole weekend felt like we were visiting family. Our two grandsons enjoyed the dogs in the house, and loved the dog sledding. We had dinner together at a restaurant with Jenafor and Gerald's grandsons and spent the evening watching the boys play in the community centre. We all raved about Jenafor's Northern watermelon pie, her cookies, the bannock, the freshly baked bread and her black crowberry jelly (some of which she sent home with me)..
Our tundra buggy ride was wonderful and our whole time in Churchill was amazing, made even more so by Jenafor and Gerald's hospitality and generosity.More
