Great location with convenient access to Wizard Express and Magic Chair lifts and Blackcomb Base. Easy walk to equipment rental shop one street down the mountain. Convenient to free area bus service. Unit (414) was well appointed and clean. Ski storage (common storage room) included. Complex has hot tub, heated pool, exercise room, and gated underground parking. After hours check-in available.

We have enjoyed this high-quality lodge and ski-in/ski-out convenience every year since 1993. The 2 bedroom/2 bathroom units are well designed, with a full kitchen and laundry in-suite. The hot tub is spacious and very popular after a full day of skiing. The pool temperature is also very pleasant, even on cold days.

We booked through Whistler Platinum thinking we were getting 5 star accommodation. Not the case. We paid a high price for our 10 day stay here. We travel a lot, and always stay in 5 star accommodation.

I booked everything via Whistler Platinum, including lift tickets, which were promised to be at our hotel upon arrival. It is even on their website, still. You can imagine how we felt when we turn up and are told that they don't have our tickets, but they will be available for us at the ski hire place when we pick up our skis. The ski hire place knows nothing about this as they do not have anything to do with lift tickets. So now we can't get them at this time, as the ticket office is closed.

When we return to the lodge and ask why they weren't available as promised, we were told that Vale no longer allows hotels to get the tickets because they don't have ID for the ticket holder. WRONG! When I questioned this, I'm told they need our passport details, I gave them this info when I booked and paid for the tickets. When asked why we weren't notified, I was told that they sent an email at the beginning of the season, again WRONG!
Then they said it only changed 2 weeks before we arrived.

However, when claiming our tickets at the ticket Office, I asked about these changes, and was told that is not the case. All other hotels still organise tickets for their patrons, and have them available upon arrival.

Ski lockers have a combination lock built in, signs up everywhere in the ski locker stating, "the locks sometimes don't work, if you have problems, please contact the front desk". Of course, when we brought our skis in for the first time, the lock won't work, so yes, we got someone from the front desk. We did this again the next morning, and the next afternoon, and the following day, until in the end, we left the locker un-locked. Staff told us that there have been numerous requests to upgrade these locks, but nothing has happened.

The TV in our apartment didn't work on arrival, and we had to call maintenance to get it working.

The phone in our apartment has a button on it that says front desk, when we tried to contact the front desk because one of the toilets was overflowing, we got a message saying the number was no longer in use. There was no way of contacting them without actually going down to the front desk, not what you want when you've settled in for the evening.

To top that off, in all my years of travelling, I have never been told upon check in, that it is our responsibility to remove the rubbish from our apartment when we leave, and we only have 1 clean during our 10 day stay.

The apartment and hotel is dated and in need of renovations. The glass door to the balcony had no blinds or curtains on it, and when it was windy, there was a constant, high-pitched whistling coming through the gap in the door, so it was obviously crafty if we sat in the chair near the door, not mention the lack of privacy concerns other apartments.

Not good enough when they are charging 5 star prices! Consequently, we will not be using this hotel again, not will we recommend to anyone we know travelling to Whistler. We will also never use Whistler Platinum if we ever return to Whistler!

Room Tip: Don't bother

Woodrun located at the base of Blackcomb is a convenient Ski In-Ski Out property just a few hundred meters above the Wizard Chair. I really appreciated that the property had large ski lockers that was readily accessible to safely and easily store your skis. This was so much easier than at other Whistler Properties where such a location or service isn't available.
The location is excellent if there is snow in the lowest elevation of Blackcomb but may prove a challenge if there isn't snow at the 600 meter level (base).
We stayed in a two bedroom unit with kitchen, gas fireplace and washer dryer which made the 7 days affordable and comfortable for our family of four. The decor is dated but was clean and inviting. I would gratefully stay at Woodrun again should the opportunity arise.

My family and I stayed here for Xmas 2017 and I can’t recommend this place enough.

Situated about 200m up the final run of blackcomb mountain it is close to the village and just a 10 minute walk to the heart of whistler village or a short (free) bus trip.

If you are an avid skier or boarder this is the place to stay with a great ski in/out facility with a quick ride down to the main blackcomb ski-lift.

It has a hot tub and heated pool with a small gym and the two rooms were both clean and very comfortable.

Will look here first the next time we plan a trip to whistler/blackcomb.
