My husband and I loved this hotel. We adored everything about our stay--the sheets on the bed, the "home away from home" touches, the breakfasts. Staff was helpful with referring us to restaurants. It was quiet and peaceful--the perfect way to spend our anniversary

I understand why Abigails has rated been so highly. Everything was outstanding.

To start with it all Allison, the GM, was quite helpful in answering questions we had prior to our arrival, and offering recommendations. I had the initial impression that the hotel was in a rural area, but it is in a residential area in the city -- very close to the wharf and Empress hotel. If you drive there, particularly at night, the hotel doesn't stand out from the rest of the surrounding homes, as it is surrounded by trees and greenery. But if you go all the way to the end of McClure St, which is a dead end, you can easily see the hotel entrance. Do you need a car for Victoria? Well, we rented a car at the airport, figuring we would need it to get to restaurants and out of town attractions, but didn't use it once during our stay. You can walk to most of the restaurants and local attaractions and it is easier to take tour buses to see the out of town attractions.

The entire front office staff at the hotel was great. They was genuine, helpful, friendly and accomodating -- particularly Kirill, Sean, Alice and Jaime. They were helpful in obtaining restaurant reservations and tour tickets, and imparted a lot of useful general knowledge about the area. A nice touch: during those days when there was rain they provided complimentary umbrellas.

The rooms were great. Very comfortable. Beds were luxurious. House keeping was exceptional. The room was spotless. Bathroom with lots of towels and amenities. The first night we got to the hotel late and indicated that we would not need housekeeping the following morning. In most hotels, when you say that, you get no service the following day, as requested, If you do find on the next day that you need something from housekeeping then you usually have to call the front desk and see if they can get it for you. However, when we stepped out of the room in the early afternoon the first day it was a nice surprise to find that housekeeping left a nicely arranged big basket fillled with towels, soaps, and bathroom supplies -- just in case we actually did need something that day.

As mentioned, they have a very good chef. Breakfasts are creative and consistently very good. Same for the evening appetizers, which are offered at 4:30 every day.

The cons? Really not much. However, one thing you should be aware of is that there are NO elevators. There are 3 floors and a staircase with several steps between the floors. If, like we did, you pack for a three or four day stay with three or four weeks of clothing, or just have heavy suitcases, make sure and ask for assistance with the luggage. (Kirill must work out a lot. He didn't even break a sweat carrying 100 pounds of luggage up three flights of stairs.)

The higher cost? IMO, it's really worth it. I agree with the Martina S. We've stayed in other very nice hotels, but this one was the best overall. Staying here is one of those uncommon situations where yes, it is more expensive, but IT IS WELL WORTH IT. Victoria is a great place to visit and get away from it all. Quiet. Beautiful. Nice restaurants and enjoyable things to do and see, like the Butchart Gardens. But the best thing about our experience here, and the thing we will most remember, is the wonderful stay we had at Abigails.

Room Tip: Orchard Room was great

This was the best lodging experience I've ever had. The staff were so helpful in giving suggestions of things to do in the area. Everyone was very kind and accomodating. The hotel is beautiful, quiet, very comfortable beds and a nice common sitting room with a fire place. I highly recommend Abigail's.

Abigail's was the perfect place for our first ever 3-generation girls getaway. From adult granddaughters taking a much-needed break from little ones, through their newly single mom, to proud gramma, we found a relaxing, delicious, completely heavenly place that met all our needs. Thank you, Abigail staff, for a most memorable stay!

The Lodging is beautiful and the staff could not be more accommodating and helpful. The room was wonderful. The location about 1/2 mile outside the center of Victoria is perfect. General Manager Allison and Executive Chef John both did their job to perfection. The staff made reservations for us both nights that we were in Victoria and we had two delicious dinners. I could not more highly recommend this facility. I know if we go back to Victoria, we will stay there again.
