“Excellent Experience”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

We booked through Hotwire and ended up with a solid room! With low numbers staying at hotel a bit more harbour front would have been nice. However, view from balcony was good. Service was EXCELLENT and the room to share with two queens for two friends was awesome. Love having an extra sink and lot's of soap.

Room Tip: ask for harbour front if able to specificy

If you’re looking for a place to stay in Victoria, look no further than the Grand Pacific Hotel. It was EXCELLENT and right across the street from the ferry dock. We stayed here the weekend of February 10, 2012 and got a suite overlooking the harbor for $139. So I thought the value was SUPER. I understand however that in the summer the rates are more like $450. Oh well, you don't do it every day!

I was part of a business group that held a conference at this hotel. First, I would like to say that the service from all of the staff was excellent...from the check-in process, the bell captains, room cleanliness, quality of the food served at our conference, etc. I thought the service rated a 4.5 - 5.0 stars! Also, the location is ideal if you are on the VIctoria Clipper or Blackball Ferry Service as it is literally a 2 minute walk from the terminals to the hotel.

With that said, I thought the hotel room (a junior suite) was just so-so. The bathroom was very small considering it was a one-bedroom suite (not adequate if there are 2 people). The counter space was incredibly limited with no shelves to place toiletries, etc. I had to constantly move things around to make room for stuff. The bed was comfortable and the pillows adequate but the room really needed to be updated as the furniture looked dated and worn. I paid $14.50 for a martini in the bar. Although I requested a premium vodka, I thought that was a bit outrageous for a cocktail. I didn't even pay that much in Las Vegas at one of the 5 star hotels.

Our room overlooked the swimming pools of both the Days Inn and Best Western next door. Make sure to request a harbor-view room as I'm sure that view is much more interesting.

I've stayed at this hotel three times during the Victoria marathon. The start and finish are just a block away and the hotel is very nice. The rooms are quite large, parking was easy, very nice views, and even the restaurant was quite good (we don't usually think much of any hotel's restaurants).

We stopped in Victoria for a few days before attending a conference elsewhere in B.C. The hotel was part of a package by Victoria Clipper that included round trip for two from Seattle to Victoria, a night in Seattle, night in Victoria, and return night in Seattle following the conference. It was super affordable. January rates are amazing.

Okay, so (as the Canadiens are always saying)...final verdict: best hotel stay of my life, and I'm almost 70 years old and have travelled quite a bit and stayed in some very nice places.

There was one little bobble with a stain on the underside of the duvet, which was addressed within ten minutes and came with apologies and two vouchers for the breakfast buffet.

Friendly, prompt service, gorgeous surroundings, fabulous meal. I can hardly wait to go back and stay longer.
