Situated on the east side of the peninsula around 10-15 minutes drive from downtown Victoria, the oak bay beach hotel is a great place for a short break. Very large rooms, everyone with a fridge and microwave. Huge luxurious bathroom, and our room had a balcony with table and chairs.
The negative part was the restaurant situation, the main restaurant is tiny and quite expensive, inadequate for the hotel size - we couldn’t get a table until 8.30, and the alternative which we tried our second night, the pub, doesn’t allow children so you get stuck eating in the lobby with no atmosphere. The suites have kitchens apparently so ideal if you plan to self cater, and you can eat in Victoria of course. During the day (closes at 5) there’s a diner we didn’t try, the fourth restaurant was closed.
Spa area was great, though all outdoors - it rained continuously. Beach right there.
All the staff were friendly and helpful, but i feel that they need to sort out the restaurant situation to really be a five star resort, it was really quiet though.More
