Was upgraded from the King Superior Room I booked to the next level above, not sure what’s called. Car park is old, but it’s an old hotel, and the car spaces are very narrow (It’s always a challenge in a rental to find that last car space that isn’t park beside a huge 4WD because you know kids are coming out sometime later and going to wack that huge heavy door right into your car!). The lifts are dated and contained signs to inform you of the current renovation. Front counter staff are friendly and efficient and my room was really spacious with a separate lounge but a tiny bathroom. I seriously don’t know who designs these stupid hotels with these tiny bathrooms – you know the ones where they are so small you have to negotiate around the door to use either the toilet or shower. Given that the rest of my room was so cavernous I don’t understand why they couldn’t have used a bit more of that wasted space to make a decent sized bathroom.

I hope the current renovations include expanding the size of the bathroom. If they do that, and improve the facade on the front of the hotel, then you’ll have nice place to stay Vancouver.

The rooms are large and clean. The staff friendly. Things get done right.

But--it gives you no more than you need (and for me, this gives it only three stars).

The small creature comforts like a safe or hooks on bathroom doors are missing. The wait staff is friendly but not as efficient as one would hope. The furniture (and there has been a remodeling) is average.

In discussing the situation with other guests and, more importantly, with some members of the staff, the impression is that management is not willing to take the extra steps to move it up a star or two.

For example, there is some remodeling, including new carpets. The aroma of the glue was heavy and it just did not seem to occur to management that this was not a floor to house guests for a day or two.

In short, not bad, but just not above average either.

Nice helpfull staff. Good size room Clean. Hotel was being renovated at the time of stay but disruption was kept to a minimum. We wanted to keep the room for an extra couple of hours after check out time before we went for our flight and the hotel were happy to help us out. Free wifi in the rooms. Very near to Robson Street with shops and restraunts and about a 20-25 minutes walk down to the waterfront.

Not the greatest place to stay, but the location was fantastic. Shopping was within walking distance, and the atmosphere was buzzing. As for the hotel, the rooms were a bit dated, and the carpets were musky. The design of the hotel was a little confusing with an elevator in the middle of the hotel that magically ended up near the parking lot, but then upon re-entry you had to take a round about walk back to the entrance. Being downtown, the noise was predictable, and the beds were not the greatest. If I had to stay there again I would, but given the comparable hotels to the price, I would probably stay at the Sheraton two blocks away. Breakfast was breakfast. I did not attempt dinner given the other options available in the area. I will say the location was great. Close to everything that a car was not necessary.
