“Wonderful week in Vancouver”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2012

We found a wonderfully warm welcome from Graham and Lee at Greystone Bed & Breakfast. We stayed in the Shaughnessy Room which is not large but it is very comfortable and has a pleasant little deck for sitting outside when the sun shines. Breakfast was a real occasion with a fine selection of food and drink and the stimulating company of Graham and his other guests. An excellent start to each day! The happy hour from 5 to 6 with wine and nibbles was very welcome and gave us more time for meeting other guests and chatting with Graham and Lee. Their advice about what to see and where to eat in Vancouver was invaluable. The location is in a very pleasant residential area of the city - not quite walking distance from downtown but the bus service is good and convenient. We highly recommend their B & B.

After over 20 visits over more than a decade, Graham and Lee's Greystone has become my "home away from home". So a review is long overdue. This is a prime central location for taking in dynamic Vancouver. Bedrooms are comfortable and cosey and Graham's breakfasts are plentiful and delicious, as other reviewers note. Lastly, what really makes this place special is the hospitality of the hosts; their travel guidance and warmth will add much to your trip.

What a gem! Location, comfort, fine food and gracious hosts. It was a pleasure to meet Graham and Lee. They provide a place to relax and enjoy their hospitality and the company of the other guests if you so desire. Their knowledge of Vancouver and area can be indispensable. Their home is a step back to another era in a quiet, central, friendly neighborhood within walking distance of many attractions.

First the good news - Graham is an excellent host and does a fantastic job making his guests feel welcome and was especially helpful during our entire stay. Furthermore, his ability to provide a scrumptious breakfast to start your day is unrivaled. The breakfast is the star attraction, with multiple selections of breads, muffins, cereals, fruits, juices, and Graham's cooked choice of the day. Totally outstanding! The bad news is that while our basement was somewhat adequate for our family of five, it still seemed a bit cramped perhaps because the ceiling height was shorter than a normal 8-9', and there was only one bathroom designed for one occupancy only. Bed and pillow quality was average. Having a kitchen in this unit and and access to WiFi was a plus, but there were too many accessories cluttering the walls and countertops. Finally, the strong smell of air freshner as we entered the unit seemed to be covering up what might have been previous pet habitation, a concern for someone like me who is allergic to pet hair, but alas, I'm happy to report that I didn't have any adverse reactions during our stay.

Graham managed to organise a delightful stay for us, in a large downstairs apartment for 2 of us for 4 days, and then my wife in a smaller (and cheaper) double upstairs for 4 days. It is a really welcoming B&B,with comfortable beds and rooms, and lovely breakfasts. It is situated in a lovely, quiet, tree lined street in Kitsilano, but just 5 to 10 minutes walk from a large number of nice restauramts. Graham and Lee have a list of recommended restaurants, after years of research, which is well worth following.
With conversation at breakfast with Graham and the other guests, and red wine happy hour in the evening, it is a nice place to meet other people, and there are many chances to learn more about the surrounding area.
