This is a very happening part of town in Vancouver. We took an Uber from our hotel which was not on the island, but I understand the public transit was easy to take here, too, as relatives used it around the same time. There are many artsy shops, live music spots, things to eat and drink, etc. The public market was great for good, cheap food. I recommend Lee's doughnuts for a snack. My kids (8 and 10) got a little bored, but my younger one did have lots of fun playing in the toy store area. There was a climb room (near the birthday parties) which gave you unlimited time for $7. Overall, I think this is a much more happening spot for adults though. I loved the broom store!

The island is filled with handicraft and high end souvenir shops. The Public Market offers many food choices to eat onsite or take home.
There are ferry rides and boat charters available.
There is a functioning cement factory with colorful painted silos.
It’s easy to enjoy a whole day eating, browsing and shopping.
Until the 1970s, Granville Island was an old school industrial area, but that has certainly changed.
Today, the island is a tourist magnet with plenty of food, drink, galleries, and knick-knack shops - all at hefty prices.
The island is quite charming, especially if you take the Aquabus there.
Remember to walk a bit away from the crowded area around Public Market. The island also has a play area for (local) children, where they and their parents enjoy the outdoors in the season.
This area is also a good place to have your lunch (buy it at A Bread Affair) and/or sunbathe when the sun is out.
Granville Island has some great shops, food and a fabulous market. There are touristy shops for local souvenirs, but also great places to purchase everything from high class art and jewelry to sausage and pasta for the nights dinner. Everything we gotten here has been wonderful.
